Independent Group 5, Independent members 3, Reform UK 2. A cluster of industrial towns around the Medway estuary in north Kent: Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Strood, Rainham. Rochester, with historic associations with Charles Dickens, lost city status when it failed to establish Charter Trustees in 1998.

At byelections on 6 February, Reform gained two seats in Rochester East and Warren Wood from Labour; Labour held one seat in Gillingham South.
