Independent 1. Immediately west of Edinburgh; largest town is Edinburgh overspill new town of Livingston, together with nearby former industrial area of Bathgate. Linlithgow in the north is now popular with commuters and growing more prosperous.

The Scottish National Party held a seat in Broxburn, Uphall and Winchburgh ward on 13 March.
