Independent 7, Cynon Valley Party 1. Largest authority in the South Wales Valleys, named after three of the rivers at bottom of them. Ex mining area, now popular for inward investment; largest towns are Aberdare and Pontypridd. Includes Llantrisant, unfairly tagged 'the hole with the Mint' (Royal Mint).

Rhondda division has a byelection on 4 July (held by Labour). Mike Diamond (Llantwit Fadre) and Kate Libby Jones (Pontyclun) moved from Conservative to Independent in January 2019.
