Powys Independents 13, Reform UK 4, Non-affiliated 2. Large rural area containing most of mid-Wales. Farming is the largest local industry; tourism is important (Brecon Beacons national park). Hay-on-Wye was converted to a book town by Richard Booth in the 1970s.

Four councillors joined Reform UK in March 2025 (two from Conservative, two from Powys Independents). Plaid Cymru gained Machynlleth from an Independent at a byelection on 9 October.
