The south-western county, which is now a unitary authority; a Conservative-led administration fell apart over an over-ambitious contracting out scheme in 2012.

Kevin Towill (Newquay Porth and Tretherras) moved from Conservative to Reform UK in February 2025. Mike McLening (St Stephen-in-Brannel) moved from Conservative to Independent in January 2025.
