Independents 2. One of the smallest districts, with most of the council area being very sparsely populated. Includes the coastal town of Minehead, and the Hinkley Point power station. Shares management with Taunton Deane council.

The Liberal Democrats gained Alcombe on 21 June, and Minehead South on 22 February, from the UK Independence Party. The council will merge with Taunton Deane borough in April 2019.
