The Liberal Democrats held a seat in Fort William and Ardnamurchan at a byelection on 21 November. At byelections on 26 September, a Liberal Democrat and an Independent held seats in Cromarty Firth, and Labour held Inverness Central. Struan Mackie (Thurso and Northwest Caithness) moved from Conservative to non-aligned; Thomas MacLennan (Fort William and Ardnamurchan) moved from Highland Alliance to non-aligned; Andrew Sinclair (Inverness South) moved from Conservative to Highland Alliance, in September 2024. Duncan McDonald (Inverness South) moved from Highland Independent to non-aligned in June 2024, to Highland Alliance in July 2024.
