Southend-on-Sea: A new Southend Independence Group has been formed by Tino Callaghan (Prittlewell ward), Lawrence Davies (Kursaal ward) and James Moyies (West Shoebury ward). All three were originally elected as UK Independence Party councillors.
Worcester: Alan Amos, who was elected for the Labour Party in Warndon ward but left the party a year ago in a row over the Mayoralty, has now joined the Conservatives. He was a Conservative MP in 1987-92.
New vacancies
Caerphilly: New Tredegar ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Gerald Jones, now Member of Parliament for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney. Term ends 2017.
Cardiff: Pentyrch division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Craig Williams, now Member of Parliament for Cardiff North. Term ends 2017.
Lincolnshire: Grantham Barrowby division, after the resignation of Conservative county councillor Jo Churchill, now Member of Parliament for Bury St Edmunds. Term ends 2017.
North Lanarkshire: Thorniewood ward, after the resignation of Scottish National Party councillor Duncan McShannon. Term ends 2017.
Peterborough: West ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Nick Arculus, who is moving to the Falkland Islands. Term ends 2018.
Dates for byelections
Cambridgeshire: The byelection due in Romsey division will take place on 25 June.
North Lanarkshire: The byelection due in Thorniewood ward will be held on 9 July.
Tendring: The Conservative and UK Independence Party groups appear close to agreeing a rainbow coalition; however Labour has declared it will not participate.
Three Rivers: The Liberal Democrats will continue to run the council as a minority administration.
Weymouth and Portland: The council will continue to have an all-party administration; the Conservatives are now to chair the Management committee in place of Labour.
