Results
- Cardiff: The byelection in Llandaff North division on 2 October was won by Sue White. Labour hold.
- Cumbria: The byelection in Windermere division on 2 October was won by Colin Jones. Liberal Democrat hold.
- Haringey: The byelection in Woodside ward on 2 October was won by Charles Wright. Labour hold.
- South Lakeland: The byelection in Windermere Town ward on 2 October was won by Dyan Jones. Liberal Democrat hold.
- South Northamptonshire: The byelection in Grange Park ward on 2 October was won by Simon Clifford and Adil Sadygov. Two Conservative holds.
- South Tyneside: The byelection in Westoe ward on 2 October was won by Norman Dennis. UK Independence Party gain from Independent.
Changes of allegiance
- Dudley: Ken Turner and Hazel Turner, who both represent Hayley Green and Cradley South ward, have left the UK Independence Party (which they had joined in January) to sit again as Independent councillors.
- Pembrokeshire: David Simpson, councillor for Lampeter Velfrey division, has left the Independent Plus group to sit as a non-aligned councillor.

- Cambridge: Queen Edith’s ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Sue Birtles. Term ends 2016.
- High Peak: Limestone Peak ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Derek Udale. Term ends May next year.
- Mid Sussex: Bolney ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Sue Seward. Term ends May next year.
- Moray: Elgin City North ward, after the resignation of Labour Party councillor Barry Jarvis in order to pursue a teaching career. Term ends 2017.
- Rushcliffe: Manvers ward, after the death of Conservative councillor David Smith. Term ends May next year.
- Swansea: Uplands division, after the resignation of Labour councillor Pearleen Sangha. Term ends 2017.
- Wokingham: Bulmershe and Whitegates ward, after the disqualification of Lesley Hayward who was given a suspended prison sentence last month; she was elected as a Liberal Democrat but had left the party. Term ends 2016.
Dates for byelections
- Aberdeenshire: The byelection due in Troup ward will be held on 27 November.
- Moray: The byelection due in Elgin City North ward will be held on 11 December.
