- Ealing: The byelection in Hanger Hill ward held on 10 October was won by Jonathan Oxley. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
- Ealing: The byelection in Northolt Mandeville ward held on 10 October was won by Dominic Moffitt. Labour hold.
- Ealing: The byelection in South Acton ward held on 10 October was won by Katie Douglas. Labour hold.
- Elmbridge: The byelection in Hersham Village ward held on 10 October was won by John O’Reilly. Conservative gain from Liberal Democrat.

- Runnymede: The byelection in Addlestone South ward held on 10 October was won by Steve Eldridge. Conservative hold.
- South Ribble: The byelection in Bamber Bridge West ward held on 10 October was won by David Bollenberg. Labour hold.
- Southampton: The byelection in Shirley ward held on 10 October was won by George Percival. Liberal Democrat gain from Labour.
- Suffolk: The byelection in Hoxne and Eye division held on 10 October was won by Henry Lloyd. Conservative hold.
- Worthing: The byelection in Heene ward held on 10 October was won by Luke Houghton. Conservative gain from Labour.
Defections
- Aberdeenshire: Two councillors elected for the Conservatives have left the party to sit as Independent councillors. They are Mark Findlater (Troup ward) and Laurie Carnie (Mearns ward).
- Arun: Trevor Bence, who was elected for the Conservatives in Aldwick East ward but left to sit as an ungrouped Independent in June 2024, has now joined Reform UK.
- Flintshire: A new ‘True Independents’ group has been formed by six councillors who were previously in the Independent group: Marion Bateman and Linda Thew (both Northop ward), Carol Ellis (Buckley Mountain ward), Chrissy Gee (Broughton South ward), Andy Hughes (Connah’s Quay Golftyn ward) and Dave Mackie (Hawarden Ewloe ward).
- Staffordshire: Thomas Jay, who was elected for the Conservatives in Amington division, has left the party to sit as an Independent county councillor.
- Walsall: Suky Samra, who was elected for the Conservatives in Streetly ward, but was suspended from the party group in April 2023, has now been readmitted, as has Mike Bird (Pheasey Park Farm ward) who was suspended in May this year.
- West Sussex: Trevor Bence, who was elected for the Conservatives in Fontwell division but joined the Independent and Green Alliance group in June, has now joined Reform UK.
- Wiltshire: Mike Sankey, who was elected for the Conservatives in Melksham East division, has left the party to sit as an non-aligned councillor.
- Windsor and Maidenhead: Kashmir Singh, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats but moved to Labour in August, has now left Labour to sit as an Independent councillor.
New vacancies
- Islington: Junction ward, after the impending resignation of council leader and Labour councillor Kaya Comer-Schwartz who has been proposed for a politically restricted post. Term ends 2026.
- Milton Keynes: Broughton ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Kerrie Bradburn. Term ends 2027.
- Somerset: Rowbarton and Staplegrove division, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Dixie Darch. Term ends 2027.

- Derbyshire Dales: The byelection due in Calver and Longstone ward will be held on 14 November.
- Fife: The byelection due in West Fife and Coastal Villages will be held on 28 November.
- Fylde: The byelection due in Kilgrimol ward will be held on 5 December.
- Greenwich: The byelection due in Shooters Hill ward will be held on 14 November.
- Milton Keynes: The byelection due in Bradwell ward will be held on 14 November.
- Milton Keynes: The byelection due in Broughton ward will be held on 14 November.
- Redbridge: The byelection due in Wanstead Park ward will be held on 14 November.

- Cornwall: Following initial confusion over deadlines, a valid motion to remove the Conservative leadership of the council will be debated at an extraordinary meeting on 7 November. The move has been initiated by former Conservative councillor John Conway and opposition councillor Julian German.
