The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

• Camden: The byelection in Camden Square ward held on 5 September was won by Tricia Leman. Labour hold.
• Camden: The byelection in Kentish Town South ward held on 5 September was won by Joseph Ball. Labour hold.
• Camden: The byelection in Kilburn ward held on 5 September was won by Robert Thompson. Labour hold.
• Cheshire East: The byelection in Crewe West ward held on 5 September was won by Ben Wye. Labour hold.
• Manchester: The byelection in Baguley ward held on 5 September was won by Munaver Hussain Rasul. Labour hold.
• Merthyr Tydfil: The byelection in Bedlinog and Trelewis ward held on 5 September was won by Gill Preston. Labour gain from an Independent.
• Redcar and Cleveland: The byelection in Longbeck ward held on 5 September was won by Stephen Crane. Conservative gain from Labour.
• Swale: The byelection in Priory ward held on 3 September was won by Alex Eyre. Liberal Democrat hold.

Changes of allegiance

• Bolsover: Carol Wood, who was elected for the Conservatives in Bolsover South ward, has joined Reform UK.
• Darlington: James Coe, who was elected as a Liberal Democrat in North Road ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
• Erewash: Greg Maskalick, who was elected as an Independent councillor for Ockbrook and Borrowash ward, has joined the Labour Party.
• Folkestone and Hythe: David Wimble, who was elected as an Independent candidate in New Romney ward, has joined Reform UK.
• Southend-on-Sea: Two former Conservative councillors who left the party to set up Southend Independent Group last month have now joined Reform UK. They are Tony Cox (West Shoebury ward) and Darryl Jones (Southchurch ward).
• Thurrock: Alex Anderson, who was elected for the Conservatives in Stanford East and Corringham Town ward but had the whip removed in February, has joined Reform UK.
• West Sussex: Gary Markwell, who was elected for the Conservatives in Arundel and Courtwick division but left the party in June, has now joined Reform UK.

• Aberdeenshire: Central Buchan ward, after the impending resignation on 18 September of Scottish National Party councillor David Mair. Term ends 2027.
• Aberdeenshire: Mearns ward, after the resignation of Scottish National Party councillor Kevin Stelfox. Term ends 2027.
• Bexley: Belvedere ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Daniel Francis, now Member of Parliament for Bexleyheath and Crayford. Term ends 2026.
• Charnwood: Sileby and Seagrave ward, after the resignation of Green Party councillor Faye Forde. Term ends 2027.
• Crawley: Northgate and West Green ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Peter Lamb, now Member of Parliament for Crawley. Term ends 2027.

Other updates

• Tewkesbury: The council has, by the requisite majority, passed a resolution to rename the borough as North Gloucestershire. The change of name will take effect in December.
• West Dunbartonshire: Following last week’s defections which cost Labour its majority, the Labour administration has resigned. A new administration has not been agreed.
