The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Greenwich: The byelection in Mottingham, Coldharbour and New Eltham ward held on 13 June was won by Roger Tester. Conservative hold.
  • Highland: The byelection in Tain and Easter Ross ward held on 13 June was won by Laura Dundas. Independent hold.
  • West Dunbartonshire: The byelection in Clydebank Central ward held on 13 June was won by Fiona Hennebry. Labour regain a seat lost when the previous councillor left the party.

Change of allegiance

  • Bolton: Ryan Bamforth, who was elected for the Horwich and Blackrod First group in Horwich North, has left the group and will sit as an Independent councillor.
  • Bromsgrove: Sam Ammar, who was elected for the Labour Party in Charford ward, has left the party to sit as a non-aligned Independent. She is an Independent candidate in the general election.
  • Derbyshire: Nigel Gourlay, who was elected for the Conservatives in Chapel and Hope Valley division, has had the party suspended over his opposition to care home closures, and is sitting as an Independent county councillor.
  • East Sussex: Abul Azad, who was elected for the Conservatives in Bexhill North division, has left the party to sit as an Independent county councillor. He is an Independent candidate for Bexhill and Battle in the general election.
  • Epping Forest: Jaymey McIvor, who was elected for the Conservatives in Ongar ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
  • Fife: Julie MacDougall, who was elected for the Labour Party in Burntisland, Kinghorn and Western Kirkcaldy ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent candidate.
  • Highland: Duncan McDonald, an Independent councillor for Inverness South ward, has left the Highland Independent group to sit as a non-aligned councillor.
  • Kingston upon Hull: Gary Wareing, who was elected for the Labour Party in Orchard Park ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
  • Leicester: Nags Agath, who was elected for the Conservatives in Abbey ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor. He is contesting Leicester East as an Independent candidate in the general election.
  • Lewes: Ciarron Clarkson, who was elected for the Labour Party in Peacehaven North ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
  • Nottinghamshire: John Doddy, who was elected for the Conservatives in Stapleford and Broxtowe Central division, has left the party to sit as an Independent county councillor. He is an Independent candidate for Broxtowe in the general election.
  • Powys: Joy Jones, who was elected as an Independent for Newtown East ward but had sat as an unaffiliated councillor, has joined the Powys Independents group.
  • Redbridge: Rosa Gomez, who was elected for the Labour Party in Churchfields ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
  • Slough: Chandra Muvvala, who was elected for the Conservatives in Langley Marish ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
  • Sunderland: James Warne, who was elected for the Labour Party in Washington West ward, has left the party and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
  • Tendring: James Codling, who was elected for the Conservatives in Bluehouse ward, has joined the Tendring Residents’ Alliance group.
  • West Suffolk: Lora-Jane Miller-Jones, who was elected for the Labour Party in Haverhill East ward, has left the party but remains in the Progressive Alliance group.
  • West Sussex: Trevor Bence, who was elected for the Conservatives in Fontwell division, has joined the Green and Independent Alliance group.

New vacancies

  • Gwynedd: Llanberis division, after the resignation of Plaid Cymru councillor Kim Jones. Term ends 2027.
  • Newham: Little Ilford ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Elizabeth Booker. Term ends 2026.

Date for byelection

  • Newham: The byelection due in Little Ilford ward will be held on 18 July.
