The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Result

Changes of allegiance

  • Ashford: After voting against the Conservative group leader becoming council leader, Bill Barrett (Singleton East ward) and Andrew Buchanan (Furley ward) have left the Conservative group and are sitting as Independent councillors.
  • Peterborough: Three more councillors have left the Conservative group to sit as Independent councillors. They are Mohammed Farooq (Hargate and Hempsted ward), his ward colleague John Howard, and his son Saqib Farooq (Glinton and Castor ward). It is also noted that the Peterborough First group of eight councillors has been formally constituted.
  • Stroud: Laurie Davies, who was elected for the Labour Party in Stroud Slade ward, has left the party to sit as a non-aligned Independent councillor. It is also noted that Chris Brine (Stonehouse ward), who was elected for Labour but left the party in September last year, is no longer in the Independent Left group and also sits as non-aligned.
  • West Northamptonshire: Paul Clark, who was elected for the Conservatives in Billing and Rectory Farm ward, has left the party and is sitting as a non-aligned councillor.

New vacancies

  • Barking and Dagenham: Mayesbrook ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Nashitha Choudhury. Term ends 2026.
  • Plymouth: Plymstock Dunstone ward, after the death of Conservative former Lord Mayor and council leader Vivian Pengelly. Term ends 2026.

Dates for byelections

  • Newham: The byelection due in Boleyn ward will be held on 13 July.
  • Newham: The byelection due in Wall End ward will be held on 13 July.
