The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Isle of Anglesey: The byelection in Aethwy division held on 30 March was won by Sonia Williams. Plaid Cymru hold.
  • Barking and Dagenham: The byelection in Heath ward held on 30 March was won by Harriet Spoor. Labour hold
  • Gloucester: The byelection in Westgate ward held on 30 March was won by Rebecca Trimnell. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Allerdale: All Saints Cockermouth ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Ron Munby. His term was due to end when the council is abolished at midnight tonight.
  • Bedford: Great Barford ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Stephen Moon. No byelection will be held as his term was due to end in May.
  • Cambridge: Newnham ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Niamh Sweeney. Her term was due to end in May so no replacement will be elected.
  • Cambridgeshire: Soham South and Haddenham division, after the resignation of Conservative county councillor Dan Schumann. Term ends 2025.
  • Hambleton: Northallerton North and Brompton ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Paul Atkin on the final day of the council’s existence.
  • Kent: Maidstone Central division, after the death of Liberal Democrat county councillor Dan Daley, a former leader of Maidstone borough council. Term ends 2025.
  • Newcastle upon Tyne: North Jesmond ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Stella Postlethwaite. Term ends 2026.
  • Pendle: Vivary Bridge ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Paul McGladdery. Term ends 2026.
  • Ribble Valley: Dilworth ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Brian Holden. No byelection follows as his term would have ended in May.
  • South Ribble: Bamber Bridge East ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Michael Higgins. His term was due to end in May so no byelection follows.
  • Stroud: Painswick and Upton ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Jason Bullingham. Term ends 2025.
  • Thanet: Birchington North ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Simon Day, who was elected for the Conservatives. As his term would have ended in May, there is no byelection.
  • Windsor and Maidenhead: Belmont ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor John Baldwin. His term would have ended in May so he will not be replaced.

  • Brentwood: The byelection due in South Weald ward will be held on 4 May alongside regular elections in other wards.
  • Cambridge: There will be a double vacancy election in Castle ward on 4 May.
  • Cambridgeshire: The byelection due in Arbury division will be held on 4 May.
  • Cambridgeshire: The byelection due in Soham South and Haddenham division will be held on 4 May.
  • Durham: The byelection due in Chester-le-Street East division will be held on 4 May.
  • Hampshire: The byelection due in Purbrook and Stakes South division will be held on 4 May.
  • Manchester: There will be a double vacancy election in Ardwick ward on 4 May.
  • Newcastle upon Tyne: There will be a double vacancy election in North Jesmond ward on 4 May.
  • North Lanarkshire: The byelection due in Bellshill ward will be held on 15 June.
  • Pendle: There will be a double vacancy election in Vivary Bridge ward on 4 May.
  • Peterborough: There will be a double vacancy election in Park ward on 4 May.
  • Sheffield: There will be a double vacancy election in Manor Castle ward on 4 May.
  • Stroud: The byelection due in Painswick and Upton ward will be held on 17 May.
  • Suffolk: The byelection due in Priory Heath division will be held on 4 May.
  • West Oxfordshire: The byelection due in Ducklington ward will be held on 4 May alongside regular elections in other wards.
