Unopposed gain for Lib Dems

The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Harlow: The byelection in Bush Fair ward held on 23 June was won by Kay Morrison. Labour gain from Conservative.
  • Kingston-upon-Thames: The postponed election in New Malden Village ward held on 23 June was won by sitting councillors Mark Durrant and Lesley Heap, along with new candidate Dongsung Kim. The Liberal Democrats win all three seats.
  • Neath Port Talbot: The postponed election in Port Talbot ward held on 23 June was won by sitting councillors Sharon Freeguard and Saifur Rahaman. Labour holds both seats.
  • Rutland: At the close of nominations on 17 June, only one candidate was nominated in Oakham South ward and accordingly Raymond Payne has been declared elected unopposed. Liberal Democrat gain from Independent.
  • Shropshire: The byelection in Highley division held on 23 June was won by Mark Williams. Liberal Democrats win a seat previously held by an Independent.
  • Waverley: The byelection in Hindhead ward held on 23 June was won by Julian Spence. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.

  • Mansfield: Oak Tree ward, after the death of Mansfield Independents councillor Vaughan Hopewell. Term ends 2023.
  • Ryedale: Ampleforth ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Jim Bailey. Term ends when the authority is abolished at the end of March next year.
  • Wealden: Maresfield ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Peter Roundell. Term ends 2023.
  • Wychavon: Dodderhill ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Laurence Smith. Term ends 2023.

Dates for byelections

  • Colchester: The byelection due in Lexden and Braiswick ward will be held on 28 July.
  • North East Derbyshire: The byelection due in Pilsley and Morton ward will be held on 28 July.
