Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Angus: Montrose and District ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Ron Sturrock. His term was due to end in May so no byelection follows.
  • East Riding of Yorkshire: Bridlington North ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Chad Chadwick. Term ends 2023.

Date for byelection

  • Lancaster: The byelection due in Ellel ward will be held on 19 May.

Other updates

  • Redbridge: The election in Mayfield ward has been postponed after the death of Iqbal Singh, who had been nominated as a Conservative Party candidate. The postponement may present problems for council leader Jas Athwal, who was standing for re-election in Mayfield ward and may not have a council seat at the time of the post-election annual meeting.
