The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

• Dorset: The byelection in Lyme and Charmouth ward held on 7 April was won by Belinda Bawden. Green Party gain from Conservative.
• East Riding of Yorkshire: The byelection in South Hunsley ward held on 7 April was won by Margaret Corless. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
• High Peak: The byelection in Cote Heath ward held on 7 April was won by Kevin Kirkham. Conservative gain from Labour.
• Horsham: The byelection in Storrington and Washington ward held on 7 April was won by Joan Grech. Green Party gain from Conservative.
• Liverpool: The byelection in Everton ward held on 7 April was won by Ellie Byrne, daughter of outgoing councillor Ian Byrne MP. Labour hold.
• Liverpool: The byelection in Warbreck ward held on 7 April was won by Sam East. Labour hold.
• Mid Devon: The byelection in Cullompton South ward held on 7 April was won by James Buczkowski. Liberal Democrat gain from Independent.
• Telford and Wrekin: The byelection in Brookside ward held on 7 April was won by Jim Loveridge, widower of the former councillor. Labour hold.
• Wolverhampton: The byelection in East Park ward held on 7 April was won by Lovinyer Daley. Labour regain the seat after the previous councillor was suspended from party membership.

Changes of allegiance

• Babergh: Elizabeth Malvisi, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Long Melford ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
• Barnet: Helene Richman, who was elected for the Conservatives in West Hendon ward, has joined the Liberal Democrats.
• Blackpool: Martin Mitchell, who was elected for the Labour Party in Layton ward, has left the party to sit as a non-aligned Independent.
• Copeland: Gemma Dinsdale, who was elected for the Labour Party in Corkickle ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
• Flintshire: Glyn Banks, who was elected for the Labour Party in Ffynnongroyw division, has decided to seek re-election as an Independent and has therefore been automatically excluded from the Party. Similarly, Janet Axworthy, who was elected for the Conservatives in Ewloe division, has left the party and is sitting and defending her seat as an Independent.
• Haringey: Sarah James, who was elected for the Labour Party in Harringay ward, has left the party and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
• Sandwell: Iqbal Singh Padda, who was elected for the Labour Party in Greets Green and Lyng ward, has joined the Conservative Party.
• Sefton: It is noted that Tony Carr (Molyneux ward) and Andy Wilson (Park ward), both of whom were elected for the Labour Party, are now sitting as Independent members.
• Somerset West and Taunton: Christopher Morgan, who was elected for the Conservatives in Quantock Vale ward, has left the party and is sitting as a non-aligned councillor.

New vacancies

• City of London Corporation: Aldersgate ward, after Alderman Nicholas Anstee surrendered office.
• City of London Corporation: Cornhill ward, after Alderman Robert Howard surrendered office.
• Sevenoaks: Penshurst, Fordcombe and Chiddingstone ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Sue Coleman. Term ends 2023.
• South Somerset: Brympton ward, after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor Alan Smith. Term ends 2023.
• Waverley: Hindhead ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Peter Isherwood. Term ends 2023.
• Wokingham: Bulmershe and Whitegates ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Carl Doran, who was elected for Labour but left in August 2021. His term was due to end in May so no byelection follows.

Dates for byelections

• Harrogate: The byelection due in Wathvale ward will be held on 5 May.
• Lewes: The byelection due in Peacehaven West ward will be held on 12 May.
• City of London Corporation: The Wardmote for the election of an Alderman in Aldersgate ward will be on 25 May and polling day on 26 May.
• City of London Corporation: The Wardmote for the election of an Alderman in Cordwainer ward will be on 25 May and polling day on 26 May.
• City of London Corporation: The Wardmote for the election of an Alderman in Cornhill ward will be on 25 May and polling day on 26 May.

Other updates

• The localcouncils.co.uk website has been updated to give the average Band D council tax rate for financial year 2022-23.
