The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Result
Wychavon: The byelection in The Littletons ward held on 13 January was won by Hannah Robson. Green Party gain from Conservative.
Changes of allegiance
Aberdeenshire: Dianne Beagrie, who was elected for the Conservatives in Peterhead North and Rattray ward, has joined the Aligned Independent group.
Babergh: Margaret Maybury, who was elected for the Conservatives in Lavenham ward but left the party in September 2019, has returned to it.
Bassetlaw: Garry Clarkson, who was elected for the Labour Party in East Retford North ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Bridgend: Tim Thomas, who was elected for Plaid Cymru in Ynysawdre division, but joined Propel in December 2020, has left them to sit as an Independent in the Independent Alliance group.
Lichfield: Alastair Little, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Hammerwich with Wall ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Monmouthshire: Kevin Williams, who was elected for the Labour Party in Llanwenarth Ultra division, has left the party to sit as an unaligned Independent councillor.
Plymouth: Council leader Nick Kelly (Compton ward), who was suspended from the Conservative Party in November, has now been readmitted. Meanwhile Stephen Hulme, who was elected for the Conservatives in Ham ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent member.
Powys: Mark Barnes, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Newtown Llanllwchaiarn West division, has left the party to sit as a non-aligned councillor.
Richmond-upon-Thames: Avril Coelho, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Hampton North ward, has left the party and is sitting as an Independent Liberal councillor.
Tunbridge Wells: James Rands, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Culverden ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
New vacancies
Bexley: Crook Log ward, after the disqualification of veteran Conservative councillor Linda Bailey who has not attended any meetings in six months due to ill health. As her term was due to end in May, no byelection will follow.
Carmarthenshire: St Ishmael division, after the death of Independent group leader Mair Stephens who was also Deputy Leader of the council. Her term would have ended in May so she will not be replaced in a byelection.
Durham: West Auckland division, after the death of Conservative councillor Mark Idwal-Roberts. Term ends 2025.
Huntingdonshire: St Neots East ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor David Wells. His term was up in May so there will be no byelection.
Lambeth: Oval ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Philip Normal. His term would have ended in May so no byelection will be held.
Merton: Graveney ward, after the impending resignation of Labour councillor Tobin Byers who is to take up a politically restricted post. His term was due to end in May and no byelection will follow.
Monmouthshire: Llangybi Fawr division, after the death of Conservative councillor Peter Clarke. His term was due to end in May so there will be no byelection for a replacement.
Northumberland: Seghill with Seaton Delaval division, after the death of Conservative councillor Paul Scott. Term ends 2025.
Sevenoaks: Brasted, Chevening and Sundridge ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Anna Firth, now Parliamentary candidate for Southend West. Term ends 2023.
South Kesteven: Aveland ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Dr Peter Moseley who was elected for the Conservative Party but was suspended from membership earlier in the week. Term ends 2023.
Southend-on-Sea: Southchurch ward, after the impending resignation of Conservative councillor Alex Bright. Term ends 2024.
Sunderland: Redhill ward, after the resignation of Wearside Independents councillor Keith Jenkins, who was elected for the UK Independence Party. Term ends 2023.
Dates for byelections
Bristol: The byelection due in Southmead ward will be held on 17 February.
Castle Point: The byelection due in St Peter’s ward will be held on 24 February.
Lincolnshire: The byelection due in Colsterworth Rural division will be held on 24 February.
Mid Suffolk: The byelection due in Thurston ward will be held on 17 February.
