The latest information about other local council electoral matters is as follows:
- Blaby district council: Byelection on 25 November in Blaby South ward after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Dr David Pollard. Term ends May 2011.
East of England
- East Hertfordshire district council: Michael Newman was elected councillor for Hunsdon ward on 11 November. He stood as an Independent and succeeds another Independent councillor in the ward. There is also a vacancy in Sawbridgeworth ward due to the resignation of Independent councillor Nigel Clark. Both terms end May 2011.
- Norfolk county council: Vacancy in Humbleyard division due to the impending resignation of Conservative councillor and council leader Daniel Cox who is moving to India. Term ends 2013.
- South Norfolk district council: Vacancy in Rustens ward due to the impending resignation of Conservative councillor Daniel Cox who is moving to India. Term ends May 2011.
- Suffolk county council: Stefan Oliver was elected councillor for Tower Division on 11 November, holding the seat for the Conservative Party.
- Waveney district council: Vacancy in Southwold and Reydon after the resignation of Conservative councillor Simon Tobin due to pressure of business. Term ends 2014.
- Tower Hamlets borough council: Byelection on 16 December in Spitalfields and Banglatown ward after the disqualification of Lutfur Rahman on election as Mayor of Tower Hamlets. He had been elected for the Labour Party but was expelled when he stood as an Independent against the Labour candidate for Mayor.
- Stockton-on-Tees borough council: There are three vacancies. First, Billingham East ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Alex Cunningham, now MP for Stockton North. Second, Ingleby Barwick East ward, caused by the resignation of Ingleby Barwick Independent Society member Andrew Larkin. Third, Mandale and Victoria ward, after the death of councillor Allison Trainer, who was a member of the Thornaby Independent Association. All three terms end in May 2011.
- Blackpool council: Vacancy in Stanley ward after the death of Conservative councillor Jean Kenrick. Term ends May 2011.
- Hyndburn borough council: Byelection on 18 November in Baxenden ward after the death of veteran Conservative councillor John Griffiths. Term ends 2012.
- Liverpool city council: Double byelection on 18 November in Croxteth ward, after the death of Labour councillor and Deputy Lord Mayor Rose Bailey, and resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Phil Moffatt who is moving to Northern Ireland. Terms end 2011 and 2012.
- Manchester city council: Vacancy in Baguley ward after the death of Labour councillor Eddie McCulley. Term ends 2014.
- St Helens borough council: Byelection on 2 December in Haydock ward following the death of the longest serving councillor in the country, Jim Caunce, who was a Labour councillor. Term ends 2012.
- Stockport borough council: Chris Walker (Brinnington and Central ward), who was elected as a Liberal Democrat but resigned from the party after being convicted of racially abusing a police officer, has been readmitted to the party group.
- Warrington council: Byelection on 9 December in Bewsey and Whitecross ward after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Jo Crotty. Term ends 2012.
- West Lancashire borough council: Vacancy in Derby ward after the death of Conservative councillor David Swiffen. Term ends May 2011.
- Chichester district council: Byelection on 25 November in Plaistow ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor John Andrews. Term ends May 2011.
- Dover district council: Vacancy in Lydden and Temple Ewell ward after the death of Conservative councillor Roger Frayne. Term ends May 2011.
- Fareham borough council: Byelection on 9 December in Fareham West ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Diana Harrison due to ill health. Term ends 2012.
- Isle of Wight council: Dave Stewart was elected councillor for Chale, Niton and Whitwell ward on 11 November, holding the seat for the Conservative Party.
- Kent county council: Byelection on 16 December in Dover Town division following the death of Roger Frayne. There is also a vacancy in Romney Marsh division following the death of Willie Richardson. Both were Conservatives and both terms end in 2013.
- Shepway district council: Vacancy in Lydd ward after the death of Conservative councillor Willie Richardson. As the vacancy has occurred within six months of the day on which his term was due to end in May 2011, there will be no byelection.
- Tunbridge Wells district council: Byelection on 16 December in Sherwood ward after the death of Conservative councillor Ted Jolley. Term ends 2014.
- Winchester city council: Vacancy in Oliver’s Battery and Badger Farm ward after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor David Spender. Term ends 2012. The Liberal Democrats will lose their overall majority if they fail to keep the seat.
- Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead: Vacancy in Park ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Richard Gard who has moved out of the borough. Term ends May 2011.
- Gloucestershire county council: Vacancy in Rodborough division after the death of Conservative councillor Stephen Glanfield. Term ends 2013.
- Poole council: Byelection on 2 December in Poole Town ward after the death of council leader and Conservative councillor Brian Leverett. Term ends May 2011.
- Stroud district council: Vacancy in Amberley and Woodchester ward after the death of Conservative councillor Stephen Glanfield. Term ends 2012.
- Wiltshire council: Vacancy in Bromham, Rowde and Potterne ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Philip Brown, who has pleaded guilty to fraud and theft. Term ends 2013.
- Bromsgrove borough council: Byelection on 16 December in Marlbrook ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor George Lord. Lord’s sudden resignation was prompted by allegations of inappropriate behaviour to members of staff. Term ends May 2011.
- Rugby borough council: Byelection on 2 December in Dunchurch and Knightlow ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Mike Galsworthy. Term ends 2014.
- Sandwell borough council: Byelection on 18 November in Wednesbury North ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Bill Archer due to health problems. Term ends 2012.
- Solihull borough council: Vacancy in Olton ward after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor Honor Cox. Term ends 2012. The Liberal Democrat/Labour coalition which runs Solihull may be endangered if the Conservatives win.
- Walsall borough council: Lorna Rattigan was elected councillor for Rushall-Shelfield ward on 11 November, narrowly holding the seat for the Conservative Party.
- Worcestershire county council: Byelection on 25 November in Bowbrook division after the death of Conservative councillor Ted Sheldon. There is a second byelection on 16 December in Alvechurch division after the resignation of Conservative councillor George Lord. Lord’s sudden resignation (he was leader of the council at the time) was prompted by allegations of inappropriate behaviour to members of staff.Term ends 2013.
- Bradford city council: Byelection on 25 November in Worth Valley ward after the resignation of former council leader Kris Hopkins (Conservative), now MP for Keighley. Term ends 2012.
- Ceredigion county council: Byelection on Tuesday 30 November in Ciliau Aeron division after the disqualification of Plaid Cymru councillor Moelfryn Maskell, who was found by the Adjudication Panel of Wales to have misused his position in relation to planning applications. Term ends 2012.
- Conwy county borough council: Byelection on 18 November in Eglwysbach division after the resignation of Angharad Booth-Taylor of Plaid Cymru who is moving to Pembrokeshire. Marl division has a vacancy after the resignation of Conservative councillor Linda Hurr. Both terms end in 2012.
- Isle of Anglesey council: Byelection on 18 November in Rhosneigr division after the resignation of ‘Original Independent’ councillor and former council leader Phil Fowlie, due to ill health (although he has since been disqualified from office). Term ends 2012.
- Powys county council: Gary Price, who was elected as an Independent in Llandrindod East and Llandrindod West division, has joined Plaid Cymru.
- Moray council: Independent candidate Lorna Creswell was elected councillor for Forres ward after on 11 December. She takes a seat previously held by a Conservative councillor.
