Gravesham: The council leader David Turner (Istead Rise ward) and nine fellow members have left the Conservative Party to form an Independent Conservative group, after they were denied approval to stand as Conservative candidates in the election next May. Their move means the council has no majority group and it is uncertain what will happen to the administration.
