Results
- Merthyr Tydfil: The byelection in Gurnos division held on 26 July was won by Jeremy Davies. Independent gain from Labour.
- New Forest: The byelection in Fawley, Blackfield and Langley ward held on 26 July was won by Merv Langdale. Conservative hold.
- North East Lincolnshire: The byelection in Freshney ward held on 26 July was won by Sheldon Mill. Labour hold.
- Plymouth: The byelection in Stoke ward held on 26 July was won by Jemima Laing. Labour hold.
- Thanet: The byelection in Birchington South ward held on 26 July was won by Linda Wright. Conservative gain from an Independent elected for the UK Independence Party.
- Torridge: The byelection in Hartland and Bradworthy ward held on 26 July was won by Richard Boughton. Conservative gain from Liberal Democrat.
- West Lancashire: The byelection in Knowsley ward on 26 July was won by Gareth Dowling, who returns to the council less than three months after standing down. Labour hold.
Changes of allegiance
- North Yorkshire: Mike Jordan, who was elected for the Conservative Party in South Selby division, has joined the Yorkshire Party.
- Preston: Lona Smith, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Preston Rural North ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent Conservative councillor.
- Selby: Mike Jordan, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Camblesforth and Carlton ward, has joined the Yorkshire Party.

- Dorset: Ferndown division, after the death of Conservative councillor Steve Lugg. Term ends May next year.
- East Dorset: Ferndown Central ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Steve Lugg. Term ends May next year.
- Kensington and Chelsea: Dalgarno ward, after the impending resignation of Labour councillor Robert Thompson who is moving to West Hampstead. Term ends 2022.
- Knowsley: Halewood South ward, after the death of Labour councillor Tina Harris. Term ends May next year.
- New Forest: Pennington ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Penny Jackman. Term ends May next year.
- Sevenoaks: Farningham, Horton Kirby and South Darenth ward, after the disqualification of Conservative councillor Ingrid Tennessee, who did not attend any council meetings in six months. Term ends May next year.
