The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
New vacancies
- Brighton and Hove: East Brighton ward, after the impending resignation of Lloyd Russell-Moyle, now Member of Parliament for Brighton Kemptown. Term ends 2019.
- Clackmannanshire: Clackmannanshire North ward, after the resignation of Scottish National Party councillor Archie Drummond. Term ends 2022.
- Rochford: Hockley ward, after the resignation of Rochford District Residents councillor Irena Cassar. Term ends 2019.
- Tameside: Droylsden East ward, after the death of the Leader of the council Kieran Quinn, who was a Labour councillor. Term ends 2019.
- Weymouth and Portland: Tophill East ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor David Hawkins. Term ends 2019.
- Weymouth and Portland: Tophill West ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Jason Webb. Term ends 2019.
- Weymouth and Portland: Weymouth West ward, after the resignation of Green Party councillor Claudia Moore, who was elected as a Conservative. As her term would have ended in May, she will not be replaced at a byelection.
Other update
- East Dunbartonshire: As a result of continuous defeats of the minority Scottish National Party administration, and after the full council on 21 December failed to set aside a previous decision to alter redundancy terms for council staff, the council leadership has resigned. There is currently no political leadership.
