The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
Christchurch: The byelection in Mudeford and Friars Cliff ward on 2 March was won by Paul Hilliard. Conservative hold.
Redcar and Cleveland: The byelection in Hutton ward on 2 March was won by Alma Thrower. Conservative hold.
Redcar and Cleveland: The byelection in Newcomen ward on 2 March was won by Laura Benson. Liberal Democrat hold.
Salford: The byelection in Kersal ward on 2 March was won by Arnold Saunders. Conservative gain from Labour.
Changes of allegiance
Burnley: Bill Brindle and Margaret Brindle, who are husband and wife and were both elected in Coal Clough with Deeplay ward for the Liberal Democrats, have left the party to sit as Independent Liberal councillors.
Cheshire West and Chester: Blacon ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Reggie Jones. Term ends 2019. His resignation removes Labour’s overall majority and the Conservatives would gain a majority if they gained the seat.
Harrow: Kenton East ward, after the death of Labour councillor Mitzi Green. Term ends 2018.
Ipswich: Stoke Park ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Robin Hyde-Chambers. Term ends 2019.
Middlesbrough: Coulby Newham ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Geoff Cole who was chair of the planning committee. Term ends 2019.
Northumberland: Lynemouth division, after the death of Labour councillor Milburn Douglas. As his term would have ended in May, there will not be a byelection.
Wyre Forest: Mitton ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Sara Fearn. Term ends 2019.
York: Micklegate ward, after the impending resignation of Labour councillor Julie Gunnell. Term ends 2019.
