The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
East Devon: The byelection in Exe Valley ward held on 13 March was won by Fabian King. Liberal Democrat hold.
West Lothian: The byelection in Broxburn, Uphall and Winchburgh ward held on 13 March was won by Mike Carlin. Scottish National Party hold.
Defections
Bradford: Joe Wheatley, who was elected for the Labour Party in Bingley ward but voted against the Labour administration’s budget, is now sitting as an Independent councillor.
Cardiff: Peter Littlechild, who was elected for the Conservatives in Pontprennau and Old St Mellons ward but left the party last year, has now returned to it.
Denbighshire: A Denbighshire Independent Alliance group has been founded by three councillors, all of whom were elected as Independents and previously in the Independent group. They are Merfyn Parry (Llandyrnog ward), Huw Williams (Moel Famau ward), and Mark Young (Denbigh Lower ward).
Dumfries and Galloway: John Denerley, who was elected for the Conservatives in Dee and Glenkens ward, has left the party to sit as a non-affiliated councillor.
Durham: Mike McGaun, who was elected for the Conservatives in Lanchester division but then left the party to sit with County Durham Independents, has now joined Reform UK.
Flintshire: Bernie Attridge, who was elected for the Labour Party in Connah’s Quay Central ward but left the party last year and was a non-affiliated councillor, has now joined the True Independents group.
Kent: Trevor Shonk, who was elected for the Conservatives in Ramsgate division but left the party in March last year, has now joined Reform UK. He has been joined by Dirk Ross (Ashford South division), who left the Conservatives in January. Meanwhile Becki Bruneau, who was elected for the Conservatives in Tunbridge Wells South division, has joined the Heritage Party.
Kirklees: Two councillors for Dewsbury West ward have left the Kirklees Community Independents group to join the Community Alliance group. They are Ammar Anwar and Tanisha Bramwell. Both were originally elected for the Labour Party.
Lancashire: Matthew Salter, who was elected for the Conservatives in Wyre Rural Central division, has joined Reform UK.
North Warwickshire: Michael Osborne, who was elected for the Labour Party in Polesworth West ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Shropshire: Rachel Connolly, who was elected for the Labour Party in Bridgnorth West and Tasley division, has left the party to sit as a non-affiliated Independent member.
Bassetlaw: Beckingham ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Joan Sanger. Term ends 2027.
Boston: Trinity ward, after the resignation of Boston Independent councillor Jyothi Arayambath. Term ends 2027.
Breckland: Thetford Priory ward, after the resignaiton of Labour councillor Terry Jermy, now Member of Parliament for South West Norfolk. Term ends 2027.
Calderdale: Skircoat ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Mike Barnes. Term ends 2027.
Cambridge: East Chesterton ward, after the impending resignation of Labour councillor Alice Gilderdale. Term ends 2027.
Cambridge: West Chesterton ward, after the impending resignation of Labour councillor Sam Carling, now Member of Parliament for North West Cambridgeshire. Term ends 2028.
Cheltenham: Charlton Kings ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Andy Mutton. Term ends 2026.
Cherwell: Banbury Grimsbury and Hightown ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Sean Woodcock, now Member of Parliament for Banbury. Term ends 2027.
Cherwell: Deddington ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Andrew McHugh. Term ends 2027.
Chichester: Midhurst ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Jess Fuller-Brown, now Member of Parliament for Chichester. Term ends 2027.
Eastbourne: Langney ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Anita Mayes. Term ends 2027.
Eastbourne: Upperton ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Robin Maxted. Term ends 2027.
Exeter: Mincinglake and Whipton ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Naima Allcock. Term ends 2026.
Exeter: Topsham ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Joshua Ellis-Jones. Term ends 2026.
Forest of Dean: Cinderford East ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Matt Bishop, now Member of Parliament for Forest of Dean. Term ends 2027.
Forest of Dean: Newent and Taynton ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Julie Hudson. Term ends 2027.
Harlow: Mark Hall ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Aiden O’Dell. Term ends 2027.

Fife: The byelection due in Glenrothes Central and Thornton ward will be held on 24 April.
