The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Denbighshire: The byelection in Rhyl Trellewelyn ward held on 26 September was won by Will Price. Conservative gain from Labour.
  • East Staffordshire: The byelection in Stretton ward held on 26 September was won by Gerry Holmes. Conservative hold. This byelection was only reported this week but was caused by the death of Conservative councillor Mike Ackroyd.
  • Herefordshire: The byelection in Credenhill ward held on 26 September was won by Charlie Taylor. She stood as an Independent candidate and succeeds an Independent councillor.
  • Highland: The byelection for two seats in Cromarty Firth ward held on 26 September was won by John Edmondson of the Liberal Democrats and Independent candidate Sinclair Coghill. This marks no change of party.
  • Highland: The byelection in Inverness Central ward held on 26 September was won by Dr Michael Gregson. Labour hold.
  • Luton: The byelection in Barnfield ward held on 26 September was won by Anwar Malik. Liberal Democrat hold.
  • Luton: The byelection in Wigmore ward held on 26 September was won by Adrees Latif. Liberal Democrat hold.
  • Mid Suffolk: The byelection in Thurston ward held on 24 September was won by Harry Richardson. Conservative gain from Green Party.
  • Perth and Kinross: The byelection in Perth City North ward held on 26 September was won by Carol Mair. Scottish National Party gain from Labour.
  • Perth and Kinross: The byelection in Strathallan ward held on 26 September was won by Alan Watt. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
  • Waverley: The byelection in Godalming Binscombe and Charterhouse ward held on 24 September was won by Daniel Husseini. Conservative gain from Labour.

  • Glasgow: Partick East/Kelvindale ward, after the death of Scottish National Party councillor Kenny McLean. Term ends 2027.
  • St Helens: Blackbrook ward, after the death of Labour councillor Linda Maloney. Term ends 2026.
  • Stirling: Stirling East ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Chris Kane, now Member of Parliament for Stirling and Strathallan. Term ends 2027.
  • Stockport: Bramhall South and Woodford ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Ian Powney due to ill health. Term ends 2027.
  • Telford and Wrekin: Hadley and Leegomery ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Gemma Offland. Term ends 2027.
  • West Lothian: Whitburn and Blackburn ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Kirsteen Sullivan, now Member of Parliament for Bathgate and Linlithgow. Term ends 2027.
  • West Oxfordshire: Chipping Norton ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Rizvana Poole. Term ends 2026.

  • Blackpool: The byelection due in Bispham ward will be held on 7 November.
  • Bracknell Forest: The byelection due in Great Hollands ward will be held on 7 November.
  • Charnwood: The byelection due in Sileby and Seagrave ward will be held on 31 October.
  • Rochdale: The byelection due in North Middleton ward will be held on 31 October.
  • Stockport: The byelection due in Bramhall South and Woodford ward will be held on 31 October.
  • Westmorland and Furness: The byelection due in Kirkby Stephen and Tebay ward will be held on 31 October.

Other updates

  • West Dunbartonshire: The Labour group has returned to lead the council after the Scottish National Party accepted it did not have enough support. This arrangement will last until December.
