The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
- Caerphilly: The byelection in Aberbargoed and Bargoed ward held on 15 August was won by Christine Bissex-Foster, by a margin of one vote. Labour hold.
- Islington: The byelection in Hillrise ward held on 15 August was won by Shreya Nanda. Labour hold.
- Stirling: The byelection in Dunblane and Bridge of Allan ward held on 15 August was won by David Wilson. Labour regain a seat after the former councillor was removed from the group.
Changes of allegiance
- Carmarthenshire: Anthony Leyshon, who was elected for the Labour Party in Lliedi ward, has left the party to sit as an unaffiliated Independent councillor.
- Peterborough: Amjad Iqbal, who was elected for the Labour Party in Central ward and was the party’s deputy leader, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
New vacancies
- Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole: Muscliff and Strouden Park ward, after the death of Independent councillor Brian Castle. Term ends 2027.
- Bromsgrove: Sidemoor ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Graeme Stewart. Term ends 2027.
- Ceredigion: Tirymynach ward, after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor Paul Hinge. Term ends 2027.
- Dundee: Strathmartine ward, after the impending resignation of Scottish National Party councillor John Alexander, who has been council leader since 2017. Term ends 2027.
- Falkirk: Falkirk South ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Euan Stainbank, now Member of Parliament for Falkirk. Term ends 2027.
- Luton: Barnfield ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Jeff Petts. Term ends 2027.
- Luton: Wigmore ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Claire Gallagher. Term ends 2027.
- Mid Suffolk: Thurston ward, after the resignation of Green Party councillor Austin Davies. Term ends 2027.
- Moray: Elgin City South ward, after the resignation of Scottish National Party councillor Graham Leadbitter, now Member of Parliament for Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey. Term ends 2027.
- Stockton-on-Tees: Fairfield ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Alex Griffiths. Term ends 2027.
- Westminster: Harrow Road ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Tim Roca, now Member of Parliament for Macclesfield. Term ends 2026.
- Westminster: West End ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Jess Toale, now Member of Parliament for Bournemouth West. Term ends 2026.
