The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
- Angus: The byelection in Arbroath West, Letham and Friockheim ward held on 25 April was won by Jack Cruickshanks. Conservative gain from Independent.
- Cardiff: The byelection in Grangetown ward held on 25 April was won by Waheeda Abdul Sattar, widow of the former councillor. Labour hold.
Change of allegiance
- Cheshire East: Hannah Moss, who was elected for the Conservatives in Mobberley ward, has left the party to join the Independent group.
- Havering: Three councillors elected for the Conservatives have joined the Havering Residents Association on the council. They are John Crowder (Havering-atte-Bower ward), his wife Philippa Crowder (Marshalls and Rise Park ward), and Christine Smith (Hylands and Harrow Lodge ward).
- Newcastle upon Tyne: Shumel Rahman, who was elected for the Labour Party in Monument ward, has left the party and will sit as an Independent councillor.
- Warwick: John Sullivan, who was elected for the Labour Party in Warwick All Saints and Woodloes ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- West Northamptonshire: Richard Solesbury-Timms, who was elected for the Conservatives in Middleton Cheney ward, has left the party and joined the Independent group.
New vacancies
- Greenwich: Mottingham, Coldharbour and New Eltham ward, after the death of veteran John Hills. Term ends 2026.
- Hackney: Hoxton West ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Yvonne Maxwell. Term ends 2026.
- West Oxfordshire: Hailey, Minster Lovell and Leafield ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Colin Dingwall follwing his conviction for falsely claiming council tax reductions. His term was due to end next month so no byelection follows.
Dates for byelections
- Birmingham: The byelection due in Kingstanding ward will be held on 30 May.
- Highland: The byelection due in Tain and Easter Ross ward will be held on 13 June.
