The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
- Edinburgh: The byelection in Corstorphine/Murrayfield ward held on 9 March was won by Fiona Bennett. Liberal Democrat gain from Scottish National Party.
- Haringey: The byelection in Tottenham Hale ward held on 9 March was won by Sean O’Donovan. Labour hold.
- Hounslow: The byelection in Heston West ward held on 9 March was won by Emma Siddhu. Labour hold.
Changes of allegiance
- Derbyshire Dales: Garry Purdy, who was elected for the Conservatives in Masson ward and was Leader of the council, has resigned from the party after being suspended from the group.
- Islington: Matt Nathan, who was elected for Labour in Clerkenwell ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Luton: Several councillors elected for Labour have left the group after being deselected for the 2023 local elections. Two councillors for Saints ward (Ghulam Javed and Summara Khurshid) have joined the Liberal Democrats, while Anne Donelon (Northwell ward) is now an Independent councillor.
- North Yorkshire: Andy Solloway, who was elected as an Independent county councillor and had been unaffiliated, has joined the North Yorkshire Independent group.
- Pembrokeshire: Alan Dennison, who was elected as an Independent councillor in Milford North division but had been non-affiliated, has joined the Independent group.
- Spelthorne: Michele Gibson, who was elected for the Conservatives in Riverside and Laleham ward but left the party in May last year and had been affiliated to the Liberal Democrats, has now formally joined them.
- Thanet: The membership of the council’s Independent groups has been shuffled. The ‘Independent and Green’ group has split, with its Independent contingent from Salmestone ward dividing: Candy Gregory has joined the Green Party group while Pauline Farrance staying Independent. Meanwhile David Wallin, who had joined the Thanet Independents group when leaving the Conservatives in January, has now left them to be an unaffiliated Independent.
New vacancies
- East Cambridgeshire: Ely East ward, after the disqualification of non-aligned councillor Matt Downey, who was elected as a Liberal Democrat. As his term would have eneded in May, there will be no byelection.
- Enfield: Bullsmoor ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Esin Gunes. Term ends 2026.
- Hertsmere: Shenley ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Anthony Spencer. His term was due to end in May so no byelection follows.
- Peterborough: Park ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Ikra Yasin. Her term would have ended in May so she will not be replaced.
- South Somerset: Islemoor ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Malcolm Cavill. The authority will be abolished at the end of the month so no byelection will be held.
- Southend-on-Sea: Leigh ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Ashley Thompson. Her term would have ended in May so a byelection is not prompted.
- Swansea: Penderry ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Hazel Morris. Term ends 2027.
- Three Rivers: Chorleywood South and Maple Cross ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Martin Trevett. Term ends 2026.
- West Sussex: East Grinstead Meridian division, after the resignation of Conservative county councillor Liz Bennett. Term ends 2025.
