The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Result
- Rotherham: The byelection in Keppel ward held on 26 January was won by Carole Foster. Labour gain from Rotherham Democratic Party.
Changes of allegiance
- Barnet: Linda Lusingu, who was elected for the Labour Party in Friern Barnet ward, has left the party and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
- Lichfield: Barry Gwilt, who was elected for the Conservatives in Fazeley ward, has joined Reform UK.
- Luton: Abbas Hussain, who was elected for the Labour Party in Dallow ward but left it in March 2022, has now joined the Liberal Democrats.
- Somerset West and Taunton: Martin Peters, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Manor and Tangier ward, has joined the Labour Party.
- Stockton-on-Tees: Andrew Sherris, who was elected as an Independent in Yarm ward, has rejoined the Conservative Party.
- Sunderland: Helen Greener, who was elected for the Conservatives in Barnes ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Winchester: Susan Cook, who was elected for the Conservatives in Colden Common and Twyford ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
New vacancies
- Cumbria: Cleator Moor East and Frizington division, after the death of Conservative county councillor Arthur Lamb. His term was due to end when the authority is abolished at the end of March.
- Fylde: Kirkham North ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Paula Brearley. As her term would have ended in May, there will be no byelection.
- Hounslow: Heston West ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Adriana Gheorghe. Term ends 2026.
- Newcastle upon Tyne: Byker ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Stephen Sheraton. Term ends 2026.
- Oxford: Littlemore ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Nadine Bely-Summers. Term ends 2024.
- Oxfordshire: Rose Hill and Littlemore division, after the resignation of Labour county councillor Michele Paule. Term ends 2025.
- Swindon: Wroughton and Wichelstowe ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Cathy Martyn. Her term was to have ended in May so she will not be replaced.
- Teignbridge: Kerswell-with-Coombe ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Sheila Cook. The term would have ended in May so no byelection ensues.
- Warrington: Latchford West ward, after the death of Labour councillor Les Morgan. Term ends 2025.
- West Suffolk: Horringer ward, after the disqualification of Conservative councillr Nick Wiseman who did not attend any meetings for six months. As his term was to end in May the seat will remain vacant.

- Hounslow: The byelection due in Heston West ward will be held on 9 March.
- Kent: The byelection due in Hythe West division will be held on 2 March.
- Newcastle upon Tyne: The byelection due in Byker ward will be held on 2 March.
- Oxford: The byelection due in Littlemore ward will be held on 2 March.
- Oxfordshire: The byelection due in Rose Hill and Littlemore division will be held on 2 March.
- Staffordshire: The byelection due in Watling South division will be held on 2 March.
- Tamworth: The byelection due in Belgrave ward will be held on 2 March.
Other updates
- Barnet: A full council meeting on Tuesday agreed to change to a Leader and Cabinet system from the annual meeting in May. Barnet had a Leader and Cabinet structure from 2001 to 2014 when it went over to the Committee system.
- Thurrock: The Secretary of State has proposed to expand the intervention into the council due to its failed investment strategy, giving Essex County Council more control over governance.
