The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Changes of allegiance
- Buckinghamshire: Steve Guy, who was elected for the Wycombe Independents in Totteridge and Bowerdean ward, has now joined the Labour Party. He had already moved to the IMPACT Alliance group within which Labour councillors sit.
- Thanet: Aram Rawf, who was elected for the Labour Party in Beacon Road ward, has been expelled from the Labour Party and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
New vacancies
- Cheshire East: Macclesfield Hurdsfield ward, after the death of Labour councillor Steve Carter. As a full council election is due in May, there will be no byelection.
- Derby: Boulton ward, after the resignation of Reform Derby councillor Alan Graves junr, who was elected for the UK Independence Party. His term was due to end in May so no byelection will be held.
- Mansfield: Portland ward, after the death of Labour councillor Brian Lohan. His term would have ended in May so he will not be replaced in a byelection.
- North Northamptonshire: Rushden South ward, after the death of Conservative councillor David Jenney. Term ends 2025.
- Sheffield: Manor Castle ward, after the death of Labour councillor and former Lord Mayor Anne Murphy. Term ends 2024.
- Tamworth: Belgrave ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Richard Ford. Term ends 2024.
Dates for byelections
- Bristol: The byelection due in Hotwells and Harbourside ward will be held on 2 February.
- North Northamptonshire: The byelection due in Northall ward will be held on 2 February.
