The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
- Colchester: The byelection in Lexden and Braiswick ward held on 28 July was won by Sara Naylor. Conservative hold.
- North East Derbyshire: The byelection in Pilsley and Morton ward held on 28 July was won by Kevin Gillott. Labour hold.
Changes of allegiance
- Lancaster: The Eco-Socialist Independent group has been dissolved. Katie Whearty is now a non-aligned Independent; the other three members are now part of a joint Green and Independent group: Faye Penny and Alistair Sinclair (both John O’Gaunt ward), and Kevin Frea (Halton-with-Aughton ward), who remains deputy leader of the council.
- North East Derbyshire: Mo Potts, who was elected for the Conservatives in Killamarsh West ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
New vacancies
- Derbyshire: Long Eaton division, after the death of Conservative councillor Alan Griffiths. Term ends 2025.
- Hartlepool: Foggy Furze ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Stephen Picton. Term ends 2024.
- Mid Sussex: Bolney ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Judy Llewellyn-Burke. Term ends 2023.
- Worcestershire: Arrow Valley West division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Aled Evans. Term ends 2025.
Dates for byelections
- Lancaster: The byelection due in Warton ward will be held on 8 September.
- City of London Corporation: An election for Alderman in Bishopsgate ward will be held on 15 September.
- City of London Corporation: The Common Council byelection due in Cordwainer ward will be held on 15 September.
- City of London Corporation: An election for Alderman in Cripplegate ward will be held on 15 September.
- Redditch: The byelection due in Headless Cross and Oakenshaw ward will be held on 1 September.
- Worcestershire: The byelection due in Arrow Valley West division will be held on 1 September.
