Rutland Weekend byelection and defection

The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

Gloucester: The byelection in Longlevens ward held on 4 November was won by Sarah Sawyer. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
Huntingdonshire: The byelection in Huntingdon East ward held on 4 November was won by Mike Shellens. Liberal Democrat hold.
Rutland: The byelection in Oakham North West ward held on 4 November was won by Leah Toseland. Labour gain from Independent.
Salford: The byelection in Blackfriars and Trinity ward held on 4 November was won by Roseanna Wain. Labour hold.
West Lancashire: The byelection in North Meols ward held on 4 November was won by John Howard. Conservative hold.
West Sussex: The byelection in Bourne division held on 4 November was won by Andrew Kerry-Bedell. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.

Bedford: Sarah Gallagher, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Eastcotts ward, has joined the Conservative Party.
Guildford: Jan Harwood, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Merrow ward, has joined the Conservative Party.
Newcastle-under-Lyme: All the remaining Independent councillors have joined the Conservatives. That includes two previously in the Borough Independent Group – the Mayor Kenneth Owen (Holditch and Chesterton ward) and Bert Proctor (Audley ward) – and two previously in the Newcastle Independent Group – Gary White and Simon White who both represent Madeley and Betley ward. As a result the Conservatives now have majority control of the council.
Maldon: The Democratic Alliance Group has disbanded and its four members are now sitting as non-aligned councillors.
Plymouth: Shannon Burden, who was elected for the Conservatives in Moor View ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Powys: Emily Durrant, who was elected for the Green Party in Llangors division, has joined Plaid Cymru.
Rutland: Alan Walters, who was elected for the Conservatives in Oakham North East ward, has left the party to sit as a non-aligned Independent councillor. He remains portfolio holder for Health, Wellbeing and Adult Care.
South Holland: Henry Bingham, who was elected as an Independent in Donington, Quadring and Gosberton ward, and left the Independent group in September, has now joined the Conservatives.

Bracknell Forest: Old Bracknell ward, after the resignation of Independent Conservative councillor Malcolm Tullett, who was elected as a Conservative. Term ends 2023.
Merthyr Tydfil: Vaynor division, after the death of Independent councillor Howard Barrett. Term ends May next year.
Middlesbrough: North Ormesby ward, after the resignation of Middlesbrough Independent Group councillor Ashley Waters. Term ends 2023.
Northumberland: Hexham East division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Cath Homer. Term ends 2025. As a result the Conservatives are now dependent on the Chair’s casting vote.
Tunbridge Wells: Speldhurst and Bidborough ward, after the death of Conservative councillor and former Mayor Julian Stanyer. Term ends May next year.

Argyll and Bute: The byelection due in Lomond North ward will be held on 16 December.
Bracknell Forest: The byelection due in Old Bracknell ward will be held on 9 December.
Renfrewshire: The byelection due in Paisley Southeast ward will be held on Tuesday 14 December.
Rotherham: The byelection due in Anston and Woodsetts ward will be held on 9 December.
Rotherham: The byelection due in Aughton and Swallownest ward will be held on 9 December.
Tunbridge Wells: The byelection due in Speldhurst and Bidborough ward will be held on 25 November.
