The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
- Canterbury: The byelection in Gorrell ward held on 18 November was won by Clare Turnbull. Green Party gain from Labour.
- Liverpool: The byelection in Anfield ward held on 18 November was won by Tricia O’Brien, who previously represented Cressington ward. Labour hold.
- Liverpool: The byelection in Clubmoor ward held on 18 November was won by Matthew Smyth. Labour hold.
- Liverpool: The byelection in Kirkdale ward held on 18 November was won by Dave Hanratty, previously a long-serving councillor for Fazakerley ward. Labour hold.
- Manchester: The byelection in Chorlton ward held on 18 November was won by Matthew Benham. Labour hold.
- Ryedale: The byelection in Cropton ward held on 18 November was won by Alasdair Clark, son of the late former councillor John Clark. Liberal Party hold.
- South Ribble: The byelection in Bamber Bridge East ward held on 18 November was won by Clare Hunter. Labour hold.
- Tewkesbury: The byelection in Brockworth East ward held on 18 November was won by Charlotte Mills. She stood with no description but is a member of the Brockworth First group, as was the outgoing councillor.
- West Devon: The byelection in Bere Ferrers ward held on 18 November was won by Alison Blackman, who had a majority of one vote. Conservative gain from Liberal Democrat; as a result the Conservatives now have an overall majority on the council.
Changes of allegiance
- Bradford: Robert Hargreaves, who was elected for the Conservatives in Queensbury ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Denbighshire: Gwyneth Kensler, who was elected for Plaid Cymru in Denbigh Central division, has left the party and is sitting as a non-aligned councillor.
- East Riding of Yorkshire: Paul Nickerson, who was elected for the Conservatives in Minster and Woodmansey ward, has been suspended from his party whip and is sitting as an Independent Conservative councillor.
- Falkirk: Dennis Goldie, who was elected for the Labour Party in Falkirk North ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Maidstone: Malcolm McKay, who was elected for the Labour Party in Shepway South ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Melton: Pat Cumbers, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Melton Dorian ward, has left the party and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
- New Forest: Barry Rickman, who was elected for the Conservatives in Boldre and Sway ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
- Wirral: Jo Bird, who was elected for the Labour Party in Bromborough ward, has been expelled from the Labour Party and is accordingly deprived of the Labour whip.
- Worthing: Russ Cochran, who was elected for the Conservatives in Northbrook ward, has been suspended from the party and is sitting as an Independent councillor.
New vacancies
- Charnwood: Loughborough Shelthorpe ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Alice Brennan. Term ends 2023.
- East Dunbartonshire: Bishopbriggs South ward, after the death of Conservative councillor and Provost Alan Brown. As his term was due to end next May, there will be no byelection.
- Eilean Siar: Steòrnabhagh a Deas ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Charlie Nicolson. His term was due to end next May so he will not be replaced in a byelection.
- Gedling: Cavendish ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Gary Gregory. Term ends 2023.
- Lincolnshire: Colsterworth Rural division, after the death of Conservative councillor Bob Adams. Term ends 2025.
- City of London: Farringdon Within ward, after the resignation of Common Councilman Karina Dostalova. As her term was due to end next March, there will be no byelection.
- New Forest: Bransgore and Burley ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Mark Steele. Term ends 2023.
- North Hertfordshire: Letchworth East ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Sue Ngwala. Term ends next May.
- North Northamptonshire: Oundle ward, after the impending resignation of Conservative councillor Annabel de Capell Brooke who is leaving the district. Term ends 2025.
- Sandwell: Bristnall ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Rajbir Singh. His term was to have ended next May so no byelection will be held.
- Somerset: Ilminster division, after the forthcoming resignation of Conservative councillor Linda Vijeh as of 1 January 2022. As her term would have ended next May (and the authority is expected to be abolished), no byelection will follow.
- South Kesteven: Isaac Newton ward, after the death of Conservative councillor and former council Leader Bob Adams. Term ends 2023.
- South Somerset: Neroche ward, after the forthcoming resignation of Conservative councillor Linda Vijeh as of 1 January 2022. Term ends 2023.
- Southwark: Peckham ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Johnson Situ who has taken up a politically restricted post working for the Mayor of London. As his term was due to end next May, no byelection will be held.
- Tonbridge and Malling: Castle ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Karen King. Term ends 2023.
- Tonbridge and Malling: Kings Hill ward, after the disqualification of Conservative councillor Millie Langridge who did not attend any council meetings for six months. Term ends 2023.
- West Suffolk: Horringer ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Terry Clements. Term ends 2023.
Dates for byelections
- Horsham: The byelection due in Roffey South ward will be held on 16 December.
- New Forest: The byelection due in Bransgore and Burley ward will be held on 23 December.
- Tonbridge and Malling: The byelection due in Castle ward will be held on 9 December.
- Tonbridge and Malling: The byelection due in Kings Hill ward will be held on 9 December.
- West Suffolk: The byelection due in Horringer ward will be held on 25 November.
