The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
- Birmingham: The byelection in Yardley East ward held on 21 October was won by Deborah Harries. Liberal Democrat hold.
- Horsham: The byelection in Forest ward held on 21 October was won by Jon Olson. Liberal Democrat hold.
- Newark and Sherwood: The byelection in Rainworth South and Blidworth ward held on 21 October was won by Tina Thompson. Independent gain from Labour.
Changes of allegiance
- Maidstone: Five councillors have left the Liberal Democrats to form the Maidstone Group. They are Martin Cox and Nikki Fissenden (both East ward), Michelle Hastie (North ward), Denise Joy (High Street ward) and Susan Grigg (Loose ward).
- Rushcliffe: Two councillors for Bingham West ward have left the Conservative group to sit as Independent councillors following their suspension from the party. They are Francis Purdue-Horan and John Stockwood.
- South Kesteven: Ian Stokes, who was elected for the Conservatives in Peascliffe and Ridgeway ward, has been suspended the party group following controversial remarks. John Cottier (Grantham Barrowby Gate ward) has also moved from the Conservatives to be an unaligned Independent councillor.
- South Lanarkshire: Graeme Campbell, who was elected for the Conservatives in Avondale and Stonehouse ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
New vacancies
- Allerdale: Maryport South ward, after the disqualification of non-aligned councillor Peter Little who has been sentenced to imprisonment. Term ends 2023.
- Argyll and Bute: Lomond North ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Barbara Morgan. Term ends May next year.
- Basildon: Lee Chapel North ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Kayode Adeniran. Term ends 2023.
- Bridgend: Caerau division, after the death of Labour councillor Phil White. Term ends May next year.
- Charnwood: Loughborough Shelthorpe ward, after the death of Labour councillor Gill Bolton. Term ends 2023.
- Dartford: Maypole and Leyton Cross ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Ann Allen. Term ends 2023.
- Edinburgh: Fountainbridge and Craiglockhart ward, after the impending resignation of Scottish Green Party councillor Gavin Corbett who has been appointed a Special Advisor to Green Ministers in the Scottish Government. He will take up the post on 7 November so no byelection will be held, as this is within six months of the day his term would have ended in May next year.
- Hambleton: Raskelf and White Horse ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Jill Mortimer, now Member of Parliament for Hartlepool. Term ends 2023.
- Kent: Wilmington division, after the death of Conservative councillor Ann Allen. Term ends 2025.
- Newcastle-under-Lyme: Knutton ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Brian Johnson. Term ends May next year.
- Rotherham: Anston and Woodsetts ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Emma McClure. Term ends 2025.
- Rotherham: Aughton and Swallownest ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Jack Austin. Term ends 2025.
- Wandsworth: Bedford ward, after the resignation of Wandsworth Independent Alliance councillor Hannah Stanislaus, who was elected for Labour. Term ends May next year.
- Wealden: Hartfield ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Chris Hardy. Term ends 2023.
- Worthing: Marine ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Tim Wills who was elected for the Conservatives. Term ends 2023.
