The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Changes of allegiance
Argyll and Bute: Alastair Redman, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Kintyre and the Islands ward but was suspended from the party in November, has been reinstated.
East Lindsey: Dr David Mangion, who was elected without a political affiliation in Spilsby ward and had been in the Independent Group, has joined the Conservative Party.
Enfield: Two Labour councillors have been deprived of the whip. They are Dinah Barry (Winchmore Hill ward) and Derek Levy (Southgate ward).
Allerdale: Aspatria ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Mike Little, who was elected for ‘Putting Cumbria First’. Term ends 2023.
Allerdale: Christchurch ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Joan Ellis due to ill health. Term ends 2023.
Allerdale: Ellen and Gilcrux ward, after the disqualification of Labour councillor John Colhoun who has not attended any council meetings for over six months. Term ends 2023.
Allerdale: Seaton and Northside ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Mark Jenkinson, now Member of Parliament for Workington. Term ends 2023.
Ealing: Ealing Broadway ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Alex Stafford, now Member of Parliament for Rother Valley. Term ends 2022.
Ealing: Hanger Hill ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Joy Morrissey, now Member of Parliament for Beaconsfield. Term ends 2022.
Newcastle upon Tyne: Elswick ward, after the disqualification of Independent councillor Dipu Ahad who was elected for the Labour Party but had the whip suspended over a criminal charge; he failed to attend any council meetings in six months. His term was extended only to May 2021 so no byelection will be held.
Wigan: Orrell ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Richard Clayton. Term ends 2022.
Dates for byelections
In England, all current vacancies which do not fill a term ending in 2021 will be held on 6 May 2021, the ordinary day for local elections. In Wales, all byelections will be held in a period between 1 February and 16 April 2021.
Other updates
East Devon: A new administration has been voted in, led by the Independent East Devon Alliance. The cabinet also includes Liberal Democrats, the Independent Progressive Group, and Independent councillors in the Democratic Alliance Group.
