Cornish upset for Lib Dems

The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

• Chelmsford: The byelection in Marconi ward held on 7 November was won by Smita Rajesh. Liberal Democrat hold.
• Cornwall: The byelection in Wadebridge West division held on 7 November was won by Robin Moorcroft. He was an Independent candidate and takes the seat from the Liberal Democrats.
• Croydon: The byelection in Fairfield ward held on 7 November was won by Caragh Skipper. Labour hold.
• Pembrokeshire: The byelection in Hundleton division held on 7 November was won by Steve Alderman. He was an Independent candidate and succeeds a fellow Independent.
• Shetland: The byelection in Lerwick South ward held on 7 November was won by Stephen Flaws. He was a non-party candidate and follows Beatrice Wishart who was an Independent councillor but is now the Liberal Democrat MSP.
• Shetland: The byelection in Shetland Central ward held on 7 November was won by Moraig Lyall. She was also a non-party candidate, and succeeds an Independent councillor.

Changes of allegiance

• Powys: Jon Williams, who was elected as an Independent councillor in Llandrindod East / West division, has joined the Action for Powys group.

• Camden: Haverstock ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Abi Wood. Term ends 2022.
• Hackney: Clissold ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Ned Hercock. Term ends 2022.
• Isle of Wight: Newport West division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Chris Whitehouse who is moving off the island. Term ends 2021.
• Kirklees: Colne Valley ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Nell Griffiths. Term ends 2022.
• Kirklees: Dewsbury East ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Paul Kane who has since died. Term ends May next year.
• Lancaster: Overton ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Michael Smith who has suffered hearing loss. Term ends 2023.
• Liverpool: Clubmoor ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor James Noakes. Term ends May next year.
• Newcastle-under-Lyme: Holditch and Chesterton ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Emily Horsfall. Term ends 2022.
• Reading: Kentwood ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Emma Warman. Term ends 2022.
• Staffordshire: Watling South division, following the death of Conservative county councillor Michael Greatorex. Term ends 2021.
