The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Result
- Rugby: The byelection in Rokeby and Overslade ward held on 22 August was won by Glenda Allanach. Liberal Democrat hold.
Changes of allegiance
- Nuneaton and Bedworth: Andy Sargeant, who was elected for the Conservatives in Attleborough ward, and his wife Jayne Sargeant elected in Arbury ward, have left the party to sit as Independent councillors.
- Perth and Kinross: Two councillors have been suspended from the Conservative group in a dispute over a meeting discussing mental health treatment. They are Callum Purves (Kinross-shire ward) and Colin Stewart (Strathmore ward).
- Rochdale: Kathleen Nickson, who was originally a Labour councillor but joined the Liberal Democrats and then announced her defection to the Brexit Party, has decided not to go through with her latest move and instead to remain an Independent councillor.
- Wyre: Rachel George, who was elected for the Labour Party in Pharos ward, has joined the Brexit Party.
New vacancies
- Highland: Inverness Central ward, after the impending resignation of Scottish National Party councillor Richard Laird, due to ill health. Term ends 2022.
- Ipswich: Alexandra ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Adam Leeder. Term ends May next year.
- Rochford: Sweyne Park and Grange ward, after the resignation of Rochford District Residents councillor Toby Mountain. Term ends May next year.
- Wellingborough: Finedon ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Barbara Bailey. Term ends May next year (though may be extended to 2021).
Dates for byelections
- Cardiff: The byelection due in Whitchurch and Tongwynlais division will be held on 3 October.
- Ipswich: The byelection due in Alexandra ward will be held on 26 September.
- Rochford: The byelection due in Sweyne Park and Grange ward will be held on 26 September.
- Wellingborough: The byelection due in Finedon ward will be held on 12 September.
