The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Clackmannanshire: The byelection in Clackmannanshire Central ward on 28 March was won by Jane McTaggart. Scottish National Party hold.
  • Sutton: The byelection in Wallington North ward on 28 March was won by Barry Lewis. Liberal Democrat hold.

  • Cherwell: Kidlington West ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Alaric Rose. Term ends 2022.
  • City of London: Timothy Hailes has surrendered office as Alderman for Bassishaw ward; he intends to seek re-election.
  • City of London: Cordwainer ward, after the resignation of former council leader Sir Mark Boleat. Term ends 2021.
  • Newcastle-under-Lyme: Maer and Whitmore ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor David Harrison. Term ends 2022.
  • Newcastle upon Tyne: Monument ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Rosie Hogg. Term ends 2020.
  • Reading: Thames ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Ed Hopper. Term ends 2020.
  • St Albans: Sopwell ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Shakir Rahman. Term ends 2022.

Other updates

  • Rotherham: The Minister has confirmed that the Directions allowing the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to intervene in the council will lapse on 31 March. They were imposed in 2015 following the child abuse scandal, but the council has been back in control since 2017.
