The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Barnsley: The byelection in Old Town ward held on 12 July was won by Jo Newing. Labour hold.
  • Darlington: The byelection in Cockerton ward held on 12 July was won by Edwin Heslop. Labour hold.
  • East Dorset: The byelection in Verwood East ward held on 12 July was won by Colin Beck. Conservative hold.
  • Elmbridge/a>: The byelection in Oxshott and Stoke D’Abernon ward held on 12 July was won by David Lewis. Conservative hold.
  • Hartlepool: The byelection in Rural West ward held on 12 July was won by Mike Young. Conservative hold.
  • Lewes: The byelection in Chailey and Wivelsfield ward held on 12 July was won by Nancy Bikson. Conservative hold.
  • Corporation of London: Sue Langley was elected Alderman for Aldgate ward at the poll on 12 July. She defeated the incumbent Peter Hewitt in a non-partisan contest.
  • Corporation of London: Sir Alan Yarrow was re-elected Alderman for Bridge and Bridge Without ward at the wardmote on 11 July, without opposition. He was a non-partisan candidate.
  • Norfolk: The byelection in Yare and All Saints division held on 12 July was won by Ed Connolly. Conservative hold.
  • Rutland: The byelection in Oakham South West ward held on 12 July was won by Richard Alderman, who won on the drawing of lots having tied with Joanna Burrows (Liberal Democrat). This is an Independent gain from the Conservatives.
  • Waveney: The byelection in Pakefield ward held on 12 July was won by Melanie Vigo di Gallidoro. Conservative gain from Labour.
  • Waveney: The byelection in Southwold and Reydon ward held on 12 July was won by David Beavan. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.

New vacancies

  • Carlisle: Denton Holme ward, after the death of veteran Labour councillor Hugh McDevitt. Term ends May next year.
  • Maidstone: Headcorn ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Shellina Prendergast in order to concentrate on her role as a Kent County Councillor. Term ends 2020.
  • North Warwickshire: Newton Regis and Warton ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Patrick Davey. Term ends May next year.
  • Rutland: Cottesmore ward, after the impending resignation of Conservative councillor Andrew Stewart. Term ends May next year.
  • Wirral: Bromborough ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Warren Ward. Term ends 2020.

Dates for byelections

  • Bury: The byelection due in East ward will be held on 16 August.
  • East Devon: The byelection due in Ottery St Mary Rural ward will be held on 20 September.
  • North Warwickshire: The byelection due in Newton Regis and Warton ward will be held on 23 August.
