The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Babergh: The byelection in Sudbury South ward on 7 September was won by Luke Cresswell who had a majority of one vote. Labour gain from the Conservatives.
  • Cannock Chase: The byelection in Hednesford Green Heath ward on 7 September was won by Linda Tait. Labour gain from Conservative.
  • Cannock Chase: The byelection in Hednesford South ward on 7 September was won by Stuart Crabtree. Green Party gain from Conservative.
  • Colchester: The byelection in Shrub End ward on 7 September was won by Vic Flores. Conservative gain from Liberal Democrat.
  • Croydon: The byelection in South Norwood ward on 7 September was won by Patsy Cummings. Labour hold.
  • East Cambridgeshire: The byelection in Ely South ward on 7 September was won by Christine Whelan. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
  • Glasgow: The byelection in Cardonald ward on 7 September was won by Jim Kavanagh. Labour hold.
  • Herefordshire: The byelection in Golden Valley South ward on 7 September was won by Peter Jinman OBE. Independent gain from Conservative.
  • Lancaster: The byelection in Skerton West ward on 7 September was won by Jean Parr. Labour hold, and thereby regain an overall majority on the council.
  • Lewes: The byelection in Ouse Valley and Ringmer ward on 7 September was won by Johnny Denis. Green Party gain from Conservative.
  • North Lanarkshire: The byelection in Fortissat ward on 7 September was won by Clare Quigley. Labour gain from Conservative.
  • Peterborough: The byelection in Eye, Thorney and Newborough ward on 7 September was won by Nigel Simons. Conservative hold, moving them out of a minority administration by giving them half of the councillors.
  • Staffordshire: The byelection in Hednesford and Rawnsley division on 7 September was won by Bryan Jones. Conservative hold.
  • Suffolk: The byelection in St John’s division on 7 September was won by Sarah Adams. Labour hold.

  • Charnwood: Loughborough Hastings ward, a double vacancy after the resignations of Labour councillors Anne Williams and Sarah Maynard Smith. Both terms end in 2019.
  • East Staffordshire: Stretton ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Rebecca Carlton. Term ends 2019.
  • Hartlepool: Seaton ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Paul Thompson. Term ends 2019.
  • Mid Sussex: East Grinstead Imberhorne ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Bob Mainstone. Term ends 2019.
  • Nottingham: Basford ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Alex Norris, now Member of Parliament for Nottingham North. Term ends 2019.
  • Nottingham: Bestwood ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Mick Wildgust due to ill health. Term ends 2019.
  • Salford: Langworthy ward, after the death of Labour councillor Paul Longshaw. Term ends 2020.
  • Sheffield: Beighton ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Helen Mirfin-Boukouris. Term ends 2020.
  • South Bucks: Beaconsfield North ward, after the death of veteran Conservative councillor Alan Walters. Term ends 2019.
  • Tamworth: Bolehall ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Peter Seekings. Term ends 2019.
  • Wakefield: Stanley and Outwood East ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Clive Hudson. Term ends 2019.
  • Wigan: Astley Mosley Common ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Joanne Platt, now Member of Parliament for Leigh. Term ends 2020.

  • East Staffordshire: The byelection due in Stretton ward will be held on 28 September.
  • Nottingham: The byelection due in Basford ward will be held on 19 October.
  • Nottingham: The byelection due in Bestwood ward will be held on 19 October.
  • Nottingham: The byelection due in Bulwell Forest ward will be held on 19 October.
  • South Bucks: The byelection due in Burnham Lent Rise and Taplow ward, previously notified for 28 September, is actually taking place on 5 October.
  • Tamworth: The byelection due in Bolehall ward will be held on 12 October.
  • Three Rivers: The byelection due in Oxhey Hall and Hayling ward will be held on 12 October.
  • Wakefield: The byelection due in Stanley and Outwood East ward will be held on 12 October.
  • Warrington: The byelection due in Chapelford and Old Hall ward will be held on 12 October.
  • Wyre: The byelection due in Rossall ward will be held on 12 October.
