The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Changes of allegiance
- Harrow: Chika Amadi, who was elected for the Labour Party in Edgware ward but left to sit as an Independent councillor after her membership was suspended over controversial social media posts, has now resigned from the party entirely.
- Lancashire: Tony Jones, who was elected for the Conservatives in Morecambe North division, has left the party to sit as an Independent ‘no description’ councillor. He is opposed to the leadership of the Conservative group on the county council.
- Sandwell: Barbara Price, who was elected for the Labour Party in Rowley ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
New vacancies
- Cheshire East: Crewe East ward, after the impending resignation of Labour councillor David Newton who is retiring due to ill health. Term ends 2019.
- Flintshire: Buckley Bistre West division, after the death of Labour councillor Ron Hampson. Term ends 2022.
- South Bucks: Burnham Lent Rise and Taplow ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Alan Samson. Term ends 2019.
Dates for byelections
- Lancaster: The byelection due in Halton-with-Aughton ward will be held on 28 September.
- Trafford: The byelection due in Bucklow St Martin’s ward will be held on 14 September.
- West Dorset: The byelection due in Lyme Regis and Charmouth ward will be held on 14 September.
