SNP and Labour find neither stinks in Auld Reekie

The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Changes of allegiance

Castle Point: Paul Varker, who was elected for the UK Independence Party in Victoria ward, has joined the Conservative Party.
Dacorum: Jan Maddern, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Nash Mills ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor. She stood as an Independent in Hemel Hempstead SOuth East division at the recent county council elections.
Forest of Dean: James Bevan, who was elected as a Conservative councillor for Lydney East ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent non-aligned member.
Mole Valley: Michelle Watson, who was elected for the Conservatives in Beare Green ward, has left the party to sit as a Beare Green Independent councillor.
Poole: Russell Trent, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Alderney ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
Rugby: Dale Keeling, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Eastlands ward, has joined the Conservatives.
Windsor and Maidenhead: Charles Hollingsworth, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Pinkneys Green ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor. He is opposed to the local party leadership.

Charnwood: Loughborough Shelthorpe ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Robert Sharp. Term ends 2019.
Knowsley: St Michael’s ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Vicki Lamb. Term ends 2019.
Merton: St Helier ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Imran Uddin who is attending to problems with his solicitor’s practice. Term ends 2018.
Shepway: New Romney ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Peter Simmons. Term ends 2019.
Stockton-on-Tees: Billingham North ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Stephen Parry who is opposed to the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn and has decided to leave the party. Term ends 2019.

Eden: The byelection due in Alston Moor ward will be held on 20 July.
King’s Lynn and West Norfolk: The byelection due in St Margarets with St Nicholas ward will be held on 3 August.
Knowsley: The byelection due in St Michael’s ward will be held on 20 July.
Merton: The byelection due in St Helier ward will be held on 20 July.
North Warwickshire: The byelection due in Coleshill South ward will be held on 13 July.
Rutland: The byelection due in Ketton ward will be held on 20 July.
Rutland: The byelection due in Whissendine ward will be held on 20 July.
Sheffield: The byelection due in Nether Edge and Sharrow ward will be held on 22 June.
Shepway: The byelection due in New Romney ward will be held on 20 July.
Staffordshire Moorlands: The byelection due in Leek East ward will be held on 20 July.
Stockton-on-Tees: The byelection due in Billingham North ward will be held on 20 July.
Wealden: The byelection due in Chiddingly and East Hoathly ward will be held on 20 July.
West Lindsey: The byelection due in Scotter and Blyton ward will be held on 27 July.

Conwy: After agreement the cabinet has now been appointed, and the council is under the control of Plaid Cymru and the Conservatives with one Independent councillor in the cabinet.
Cumbria: The Labour and Liberal Democrat groups have agreed a coalition deal which will allow them to control the council.
Denbighshire: After an Independent councillor was elected as council leader, he has formed an administration comprising Independent and Conservative councillors. Two further posts are allotted to Plaid Cymru in the event their national executive ratifies the agreement.
Edinburgh: Agreement has been reached on a coalition deal between the Scottish National Party and Labour which will run the council.
Merthyr Tydfil: Following the postponed election last week, the Independent group have taken control of the council.
West Lothian: A Labour minority administration has been formed.
