The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Result

  • Bromsgrove: The byelection in Norton ward on 19 January was won by Mike Webb. Conservative hold.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Aberdeenshire: Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Katrina Farquhar. Her term would have ended in May so there will be no byelection.
  • Basingstoke and Deane: Winklebury ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Joe Smith. Term ends 2019.
  • Blackpool: Warbreck ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Tony Brown. Term ends 2019.
  • Durham: Chester-le-Street East division, after the resignation of Labour councillor Lawson Armstrong. The full council elections are due in May so no byelection will be held.
  • East Staffordshire: Burton ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Michael Rodgers. Term ends 2019.
  • Epping Forest: Chigwell Village ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor and former council leader Lesley Wagland. Term ends 2018.
  • Harrow: Roxbourne ward, after the death of Labour councillor Bob Currie. Term ends 2018.
  • Kettering: Barton ward, after the resignation of Independent councillor Stephen Bellamy, who was elected for the Conservatives. Term ends 2019.
  • Lancashire: Lancaster Rural North division, after the resignation of Conservative county councillor Alycia James. As her term would have ended in May, there will be no byelection.
  • Corporation of London: Bishopsgate ward, after the resignation of Common Councilman Billy Dove. As full council elections are due in March there will be no election.
  • Corporation of London: Queenhithe ward, after the elevation of Common Councilman Alastair King to the Aldermanic bench. There will be no byelection before the full council elections in March.
  • Powys: Builth division, after the resignation of Independent councillor Avril York who is emigrating to Hong Kong. As her term would have ended in May there is no byelection due.
  • Renfrewshire: Houston, Crosslee and Linwood ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Stuart Clark. There will not be a byelection due to the impending full council elections.
  • Rugby: Coton and Boughton ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Helen Taylor. Term ends 2019.
  • South Hams: Charterlands ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor and former deputy Leader Lindsay Ward. Term ends 2019.
  • West Sussex: East Grinstead South and Ashurst Wood division, after the resignation of Conservative county councillor John O’Brien. His term would have ended in May so there will not be a byelection.
  • Wokingham: Emmbrook ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Chris Singleton. Term ends 2018.

Dates for byelections

  • Basingstoke and Deane: The byelection due in Winklebury ward will be held on Tuesday 21 February.
  • East Staffordshire: The byelection due in Burton ward will be held on 16 February.
  • Epping Forest: The byelection due in Chigwell Village ward will be held on 23 February.
  • Kettering: The byelection due in Barton ward will be held on 23 February.
  • Redcar and Cleveland: The byelection due in Hutton ward will be held on 2 March.
  • Salford: The byelection due in Kersal ward will be held on 2 March.
  • South Hams: The byelection due in Charterlands ward will be held on 23 February.
  • Wokingham: The byelection due in Emmbrook ward will be held on Friday 17 February.
