The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Barrow-in-Furness: The byelection in Risedale ward on 29 October was won by Michael Cassells. Labour hold.
  • Brentwood: The byelection in Shenfield ward on 29 October was won by Jan Pound. Conservative gain from Liberal Democrat.
  • Cheshire East: The byelection in Congleton East ward on 29 October was won by Geoff Baggott. Conservative hold.
  • Chorley: The byelection in Euxton North ward on 29 October was won by Tommy Gray, Labour hold.
  • Peterborough: The byelection in West ward on 29 October was won by Lynne Ayres. Conservative hold.
  • Wealden: The byelection in Hellingly ward on 29 October was won by David White. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative (the resigning councillor was seeking re-election as an Independent).

New vacancies

  • Ashford: Aylesford Green ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Kate Hooker. Term ends 2019.
  • Bournemouth: Kinson South ward, after the Election Court declared the elections of Conservative councillors Roger Marley and Norman Decent to be void. When the polls opened in May, Kinson South polling stations had ballot papers for Kinson North ward. Term ends 2019.
  • Conwy: Gogarth division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Janet Howarth AM due to inability to attend meetings. Term ends 2017.
  • East Hertfordshire: Hertford Heath ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Adrian McNeece who failed to persuade the council to end the abysmal practice of holding prayers in the council chamber. Term ends 2019.
  • Huntingdonshire: Huntingdon East ward, after the resignation of UK Independence Party councillor Andrew Hardy. Term ends 2018.
  • South Kesteven: Belvoir ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Tom Webster. Term ends 2019.
  • Worcestershire: Stourport-on-Severn division, after the death of Independent Community and Health Concern and Residents councillor Jim Parish. Term ends 2017.

  • Ashford: The byelection due in Aylesford Green ward will be held on 19 November.
  • Bournemouth: The two-member byelection due in Kinson South ward will be held on 10 December.
  • Guildford: The byelection due in Ash South and Tongham ward will be held on 3 December.
  • Huntingdonshire: The byelection due in Huntingdon East ward will be held on 10 December.
  • Newham: The byelection due in Boleyn ward will be held on 3 December.
  • Shropshire: The byelection due in Meole division will be held on 3 December.
  • South Kesteven: The byelection due in Belvoir ward will be held on 3 December.
