Result

• Caerphilly: The byelection in Bedwas, Trethomas and Machen division on 3 September was won by Lisa Jones. Labour hold.

Changes of allegiance

• Birmingham: Ian Cruise, who was elected for the Labour Party in Longbridge ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.

New vacancies

• Aberdeenshire: Huntly, Strathbogie and Howe of Alford ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Alastair Ross due to ill health. This is the second vacancy in the ward. Term ends 2017.
• Bury: Tottington ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Simon Carter, who has pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children. Term ends 2016.
• Carmarthenshire: Kidwelly division, after the death of Labour councillor Keith Davies. Term ends 2017.
• South Hams: Totnes ward, after the resignation of Green Party councillor Barrie Wood. Term ends 2019.
• South Oxfordshire: Sonning Common ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Martin Akehurst. Term ends 2019.

Dates for byelections

• Aberdeenshire: A byelection for two seats in Huntly, Strathbogie and Howe of Alford ward will be held on 5 November.
• Bolsover: The byelection due in Bolsover South ward will be held on 8 October.
• Cardiff: The byelection due in Riverside division will be held on Wednesday 7 October.
• South Hams: The byelection due in Totnes ward will be held on 8 October.
• South Oxfordshire: The byelection due in Sandford and the Wittenhams ward will be held on 8 October.
