The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Cornwall: The byelection in Camborne Pendarves division held on 20 August was won by John Herd. Conservative gain from UK Independence Party.
  • Durham: The byelection in Shotton and South Hetton division on 20 August was won by Alan Liversidge. Labour hold.
  • Orkney: The byelection in West Mainland ward on 18 August was won by Rachael King of the Orkney Manifesto Group. The late councillor had been elected as an Independent but was a founder of the Orkney Manifesto Group.
  • West Oxfordshire: The byelection in Witney North on 20 August was won by Carol Reynolds. Conservative regain from an Independent who had been elected as a Conservative.

New vacancies

  • Cardiff: Riverside division, after the resignation of Labour councillor Cecilia Love. Term ends 2017.
  • Colchester: Dedham and Langham ward, after the disqualification of Conservative councillor Mark Cable who did not attend any council meetings in six months. Term ends 2016.
  • Wakefield: Pontefract North ward, after the resignation of Paula Sherriff, now Member of Parliament for Dewsbury. Term ends 2016.
  • West Lothian: Linlithgow ward, after the resignation of Scottish National Party councillor Martyn Day, now Member of Parliament for Linlithgow and Falkirk East. Term ends 2017.

Dates for byelections

  • Derbyshire: The byelection due in Derwent Valley division will be held on 24 September.
  • Wakefield: The byelection due in Pontefract North ward will be held on 24 September.
  • West Lothian: The byelection due in Linlithgow ward will be held on 1 October.
  • Woking: The byelection due in Goldsworth East ward will be held on 8 October.
  • Woking: The byelection due in Goldsworth West ward will be held on 8 October.
