The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.
Results
- Blackburn with Darwen: The byelection in Mill Hill ward held on 23 July was won by Carl Nuttall, who returns to the council two and a half months after losing in Meadowhead ward. Labour hold.
- Caerphilly: The byelection in New Tredegar division held on 23 July was won by Mark Evans. Labour hold.
- Elmbridge: The byelection in Long Ditton ward held on 23 July was won by Neil Houston. Liberal Democrat hold.
- North East Lincolnshire: The byelection in Croft Baker ward held on 23 July was won by Annie Darby. Labour hold.
- Westminster: The byelection in Harrow Road ward held on 23 July was won by Tim Roca. Labour hold.
Changes of allegiance
- Basildon: The three members of the UK Independence Party elected from wards in Wickford have formed a separate Wickford UKIP group on the council; it is a move designed to change committee allocations rather than a political split.
- Mansfield: Nick Bennett, who was elected for the Labour Party in Kingsway ward, has joined Mansfield Independent Forum. As a result Labour no longer has a majority on the council.
- Rochdale: Peter Rush, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in North Heywood ward, has joined the Labour Party.
- Thurrock: Colin Churchman, who was elected for the UK Independence Party in Stanford East and Corringham Town ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent over apparent attempts by the party to control his voting on planning applications.
New vacancies
- East Ayrshire: Irvine Valley ward, after the resignation of Scottish National Party councillor Alan Brown, now Member of Parliament for Kilmarnock and Loudoun. Term ends 2017.
- Haringey: Noel Park ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Denise Marshall. Term ends 2018.
Dates for byelections
- Barnsley: The byelection due in Dearne North ward will be held on 27 August.
- East Ayrshire: The byelection due in Irvine Valley ward will be held on 1 October.
- Sandwell: The byelection due in Blackheath ward will be held on 10 September.
- South Ayrshire: The byelection due in Ayr East ward will be held on 17 September.
