Mendip: Three councillors have founded a UK Independence Party group. They are Adrian Dobinson (Frome Berkley Down ward) who was originally a Liberal Democrat but left the party last year; together with Sharon Snook and Derek Tanswell (both Frome Market ward), who were previously Liberal Democrat councillors.
Sutton: Nick Mattey, who was elected for the Liberal Democrats in Beddington North ward, has been suspended from the group after publicly opposing council plans for an energy recovery facility in his ward.
New vacancies
Boston: Coastal ward, after the resignation of unaligned councillor Raymond Singleton-McGuire, who was elected as a Conservative. As his term was due to end next month, there will be no byelection.
Postponed polls
Wyre Forest: The election due on 7 May in Areley Kings and Riverside ward has been postponed after the death of Nigel Thomas, who had been nominated as the candidate of Independent Community and Health Concern. He was councillor for the previous Areley Kings ward from 2006 to 2014.
