The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Result

  • Denbighshire: The byelection in Rhyl South West division on 19 March was won by Pete Prendergast. Labour hold.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Babergh: Great Cornard North ward, after the disqualification of Labour councillor Neil MacMaster, who did not attend any meetings in six months. As his term would have expired in May, he will not be replaced in a byelection.
  • Barnet: Garden Suburb ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Danny Seal. Term ends 2018. As a result of his resignation, the Conservatives have lost their overall majority on the council; were they to lose the byelection, they could be deposed.
  • Cheltenham: Battledown ward, after the impending resignation of Conservative councillor Andrew Wall. Term ends 2016.
  • Derbyshire: Ashbourne division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Andrew Lewer, now Member of the European Parliament for the East Midlands. Term ends 2017.
  • Durham: Barnard Castle West division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Barbara Harrison. Term ends 2017.
  • Durham: Ferryhill division, after the resignation of Labour councillor Pat McCourt. Term ends 2017.
  • Durham: Sherburn division, after the resignation of Labour councillor Stephen Guy. Term ends 2017.
  • Durham: Willington and Hunwick division, after the resignation of Labour councillor Joe Buckham. Term ends 2017.
  • Greenwich: Greenwich West ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Matt Pennycook who is concentrating on his Parliamentary candidacy in Greenwich and Woolwich. Term ends 2018.
  • Kent: Romney Marsh division, after the resignation of UK Independence Party councillor David Baker. Term ends 2017.
  • Lambeth: Prince’s ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Chris Marsh. Term ends 2018.
  • Maidstone: Park Wood ward, after the resignation of UK Independence Party councillor Christine Edwards-Daem. Term ends 2018.
  • Newham: Stratford and New Town ward, after the disqualification of Labour councillor Charlene McLean who has not attended any meetings in six months. She has been away after giving birth prematurely but owing to an error was not given leave of absence; McLean has been reselected to stand for the vacancy. Term ends 2018.
  • North Dorset: Blandford Hilltop ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Tony Harrocks. As his term was due to end in May, there will be no byelection to replace him.
  • Oxfordshire: Witney West and Bampton division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Simon Hoare, who is concentrating on his Parliamentary candidacy in North Dorset. Term ends 2017.
  • Rushmoor: Aldershot Park ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Don Cappleman due to ill health. As his term was due to end in May, there will be no byelection.
  • Rushmoor: Farnborough West Heath ward, after the resignation of UK Independence Party councillor Barbara Donaghue. Term ends 2018.
  • Sefton: Ravenmeols ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Peter Maguire. Term ends 2016.
  • Southwark: Chaucer ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Claire Maugham. Term ends 2018.
  • Stroud: Eastington and Standish ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Ken Stephens. Term ends 2016.
  • Surrey: Weybridge division, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Christian Mahne. Term ends 2017.
  • Watford: Callowland ward, after the resignation of Green Party councillor Ian Brandon. Term ends 2016.
  • West Oxfordshire: Hailey, Minster Lovell and Leafield ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Simon Hoare, who is concentrating on his Parliamentary candidacy in North Dorset. Term ends 2016.
