The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Aberdeenshire: The byelection in Troup ward on 27 November was won by Ross Cassie. Scottish National Party gain from Conservative.
  • East Riding of Yorkshire: The byelection in Bridlington Central and Old Town ward on 27 November was won by Malcolm Milns. UK Independence Party gain from the Social Democratic Party.
  • East Riding of Yorkshire: The byelection in Howdenshire ward on 27 November was won by Nigel Wilkinson. Conservative hold.
  • East Riding of Yorkshire: The byelection in Willerby and Kirk Ella ward on 27 November was won by Mick Burchill. Conservative hold.
  • Gwynedd: Annwen Daniels was returned unopposed as councillor for Bowydd and Rhiw division on 26 November. Plaid Cymru hold.
  • Hillingdon: The byelection in Charville ward on 27 November was won by John Oswell. Labour hold.
  • Huntingdonshire: The byelection in St Neots Priory Park ward on 27 November was won by Ian Gardener. Conservative hold.
  • Melton: The byelection in Asfordby ward on 27 November was won by Ronnie de Burle. Conservative gain from Labour.
  • Midlothian: The byelection in Midlothian East was on 27 November was won by Kenny Young. Labour hold.
  • Orkney: The byelection in Kirkwall West and Orphir ward was won by Leslie Manson, who stood as an Independent and succeeds another Independent councillor.
  • Orkney: The byelection in Blackbird Leys ward on 27 November was won by Linda Smith. Labour hold.
  • Orkney: The byelection in Northfield Brook ward on 27 November was won by Sian Taylor. Labour hold.
  • Oxfordshire: The byelection in Leys division on 27 November was won by Steve Curran. Labour hold.

Changes of allegiance

New vacancies

  • Cambridgeshire: Bar Hill division, after the death of Conservative councillor John Reynolds. Term ends 2017.
  • Gwynedd: As noted above, Bowydd and Rhiw division had a vacancy caused by the resignation of Plaid Cymru councillor Paul Thomas.
  • Rushcliffe: Thoroton ward, after the death of Conservative councillor John Cranswick. As there are less than six months before the full council election, no byelection will be held.
